He's been on over £20k a week at Hull... highly doubt he'd be willing to take a huge wage cut to come here.

He'll end up somewhere that will give him around the same as Hull, clubs like Middlesbrough/Norwich/Watford spring to mind.

He is now. What he did 5 seasons ago is irrelevant. He didn’t even look like missing chances last season, never mind scoring goals.

They are just settling in for another cosy old boys club again down there now the shadow MD and his CEO have rearranged the chairs.

Club funding itself short term through sales, firefighter head coach/manager happy for a job knowing the restrictions, owners happy there is no hassle for a while.

He was arguably the worst keeper I've seen at ewood last season. Alot of that however was down to him being expected to play out. Hes a solid keeper but would be a short term and expensive fix. As much as it pains me I'd rather use the money elsewhere and persevere with pears. 

As for Aaron Connolly at 24 there is certainly a chance of getting a return on any investment. Which as a free transfer you'd imagine the club would be all over. He will still have hopes of getting back to premier league and will hopefully see what Armstrong, Diaz and maybe szmodics have done here and given their career a huge boost. It will all depend on what options he has and what we can offer. But he would certainly be a player we should be looking at.

I doubt Ruddy at this stage is any sort of upgrade on Pears but having him in the building working with Pears and as solid backup would make sense.

However you wouldn't want to be paying him anything more than a wage that reflects that we don't want people doing people favours again.

I've seen rumours that Benson has left though no idea if that's true but Ruddy in as keeper coach, back up keeper might be a good fit.

Rovers need to learn to spend some decent money in key positions, it's as simple as that. 1m+ on a GK, a striker, a CM and a left back. Loan in a winger. Job done but will never happen even though the funds have been generated.

Can't be many left in the "Venky's In" brigade now?

As much as I think there is a player in Connolly, I don't think signing a kebab loving shag about striker would help with the standards as they currently are at rovers.  Between the manager giving him days off to keep him happy and the fans being banned from booing him I've no doubt hed have a great time - just not on the pitch

The worst keepers seen at Ewood last season, were Pears and Wahlstedt.
