davulsukur Posted Saturday at 23:01 Share Posted Saturday at 23:01 It seems he benefited immensely from JE creating a well drilled, throw their bodies on the line, defensive unit with a siege mentality. Now that's gone to pot, he's reverted to type. Might as well give Toth some games and see what happens. The club won't buy a new No.1 in the summer, so we're stuck with them both.
J*B Posted Saturday at 23:13 Share Posted Saturday at 23:13 We can all sleep well tonight knowing even if we did scrape into the top six and fluke two performances in the playoff games, Aynsley would fuck it up at Wembley. I have never known a professional athlete with such a weak mentality. Under any pressure whatsoever he’s useless.
Ghost7 Posted Saturday at 23:28 Share Posted Saturday at 23:28 It's funny how someone like Toth can come in make a slight error, then not get a sniff for the next 20 games but Aynsley can consistently flap at crosses and cost us vital goals with other ridiculous errors over multiple seasons. The positioning on his freekick at Bristol was sackable. The one the other week with his feet where he's kicked it in? One of the worst keeping errors I've ever seen. Totally inexcusable. I'd have dropped him immediately after that. Flapping at it today costing us another vital goal.... The miss kick vs Sheffield Weds... there's so many more. An alarming amount more. I've never seen a keeper who's tested so little.... make so many errors when tested. JDT bizarrely playing him over Kaminski cost us the playoffs before. Eustace wanted a new no.1 too. Get him GONE and bring in a more physical goalkeeper!

Pears' errors are entirely down to him being shit.
Upside Down Posted yesterday at 02:27 Share Posted yesterday at 02:27 Just seen the goals now. I've given Pears a lot of grief for being shit over the last year or so but he's even shitter than what I thought he was. Fuck off Pears.
metalrover Posted yesterday at 03:59 Share Posted yesterday at 03:59 Toth deserves a start in the next game, can't do any much worse surely. Danny Batth was sorely missed, Hyam clearly not a leader at the back. We will be back to shipping goals in if Batth's contract wasn't renewed for another year. Together with a clown keeper, and a front four that doesn't score many goals, a disaster is waiting to happen.

This is something that I still can't get my head around. From memory, TK let a few soft ones in and then sat out a few games due to injury. But he was, is and always will be several grades better than Pears and should have gone straight back in as our number 1. I'm not one for the conspiracy theories, but it makes you wonder how such a deep and consistent level of incompetence is allowed to carry on week in, week out. Pears is literally costing us goals and games, as recently as yesterday.

I argued with many mates who were convinced Whalstedt was a better option when he's clearly not even in the same league. Don't get me wrong, he has made errors in the past and he did make some notable errors last season but he also had some great games that he was never given credit for because people had already made up their minds. Since he's come back in, he's been absolutely brilliant in my opinion. On Saturday he kept us in the game but the fans got on this lads back so quickly when he makes a small mistake. Seems some already made up their mind that they think he's sh*t and to me it just seems a hivemind mentality. I personally feel i'll always give credit and criticism where it's due and this boy for his recent performances deserves a lot more. There was a fella giving him pelters all game on Saturday but not once clapped him or gave him credit for keeping us in the game. An English goalkeeper at 25 years old, giving us performances like he has done recently is someone I see as a real asset, he's made some mistakes but you have to make some to become better and to me he looks like he's improved a lot. Even the small things like watching his near post better, his starting positions and angles when closing down 1 on 1's. His distribution has always been good aswell. Was nice to hear a chant of "England's number 1" and I really hope the fans start to get behind him now because his best years are firmly in front of him. Keep that chant going. Last night's performance was a real display of how good he can be especially when he has the confidence of the fans behind him. Well done Aynsley Pears. Just over a year on. I'm guessing your opinion has changed?

Mattyblue Posted yesterday at 07:58 Share Posted yesterday at 07:58 United giving him a ten year deal to be their number four keeper sounds like the kind of mad thing that could happen in the weird world of modern football…

Tugayisgod Posted yesterday at 09:09 Share Posted yesterday at 09:09 Totally agree that an upgrade on Pears would be fantastic but unless someone can come up with a name within our budget that improves the GK position then we are stuck with him (unless he moves on) Toth hasn't impressed in the couple of games he's played although maybe he needs more game time in this league. Keepers just don't command the box like they used too, the standard is as low as it's ever been. The two best keepers in the Premier League, Ederson and Aliisson both guilty yesterday of conceding poor goals. Maybe Michalski will eventually come through, don't know, can't say I've ever seen him in the flesh. Maybe someone who goes to u21 games can give an opinion. But like I say, if anybody can come up with a name to replace Pears, go ahead

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted yesterday at 09:20 Share Posted yesterday at 09:20 Just when you think football can’t get any crazier. Maybe he’s being brought in as an example of what not to do as a goalkeeper.
ageoftherover Posted yesterday at 09:22 Share Posted yesterday at 09:22 Is that from North West England's equivalent of The Onion? If so it's genuinely quite funny. If it's real it's even funnier.

There are plenty of goalkeepers around that wouldn't make the errors Pears does.
