tomphil Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 We've already blow 800k plus add ons probably on Leo so the chances of any keeper changes are virtually zero i'm afraid. The only chance was when Pears was doing ok earlier under Eustace he might have caught the attention of another Champ club who want an English keeper in their squad for a modest fee. That would've freed up a wage and position but i dread t think who Broughton would've foisted on us next, most likely Leo !!! Quote

Unfortunately, the latter almost always comes up in key matches where we're expected to do well, like yesterday. Was barely qualified to be on the bench when we signed him and should never have been a number 1 at this level. Whoever made the decision to keep him in (JDT or otherwise) last season needs to give their head a wobble. Yes this is the issue. he's top class 1 in 10, average in 4 of 10 and horrific in 5. You can't have a keeper who is going to cost you goals and games in 50% of your games. Quote

Mind you under Venkys keepers have generally been an afterthought - Walton, Steele, the other lad who played instead of Raya. And even our better managers TM and JDT (though that's not a hugh bar) made blunders in the keeper area. TM doubted Raya had premier league potential and JDT kept Pears in when Kaminski returned from injury 1 Quote
Polky Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 Shows all of his errors leading to goals this season. He’s that bad an account with 675k followers has accused him of match fixing 😂 Quote
tomphil Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 I'd like to think the only way he's dodgy is in the eyeballs but that lowlight reel is grim. If you're going to purposely let one in though there are less obvious ways than Sundays howler. Quote

Makes me wonder if he needs glasses. Quote

superniko Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Does anyone outside of Mashed Potato Head, Mani and Chaddy actually think this bloke should be our #1? See no reason for Toth not to be starting now, give him a run of games to settle in - would hate to see the collection of howlers he’s dished out since nepotism got him a contract at our club. 9 Quote
Popular Post Ferrit Posted March 8 Popular Post Posted March 8 (edited) He's absolutely shite, has always been shite, will always be shite. Id give Toth a go, I find it hard to believe he could be worse. His latest run of gaffs is right up there with SW from last season. Edited March 8 by Ferrit 10 Quote
rigger Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I wonder if Pears will say that his form is down to the keeper coach ? Quote
rigger Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I doubt that Pears would get a game at Sunday-league level. 2 Quote
Ghost7 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 The reserve keepers must be absolutely shite in training. This man costing us way too many games season after season. Quote

OnionBalaji Posted March 8 Posted March 8 No sell on value in this fella though, so stuck with him for now Quote

Andy Posted March 8 Posted March 8 It's clear to everyone that he's an absolute liability - and is costing us games on a regular basis. Opposition managers are obviously targeting him as our weak point. This season isn't far from being written off now, so just drop him and put either Toth or Michalski in. 7 Quote
Backroom DE. Posted March 8 Backroom Posted March 8 I'd give Toth a go at this point. We aren't getting top six so give the boy a chance and let's see what he can do with a run of games. Not giving players a chance when first teamers are consistently underperforming sends out a terrible message and doesn't give the second string players any motivation. 6 Quote
alcd Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Are those who are saying Toth is worse than Pears basing that on inside info from the training ground as it surely cannot be from only 3 first team appearances. If he cost a few hundred thousand he should surely be given a few more matches to show he's not up to it? 2 Quote
OnionBalaji Posted March 8 Posted March 8 How many points has Pears cost us over the last two seasons? admittedly he was far improved earlier in the season but seems to have reverted to type Quote
chaddyrovers Posted March 8 Posted March 8 We need a new number 1 keeper who can command the box, communicate, good reflexes and good distribution of the ball. Quote
Backroom DE. Posted March 8 Backroom Posted March 8 Having someone who can do the basics and not cost us at least one goal per match would also be OK. 4 Quote
