v Swansea City (a) - 2/3/24

Recommended Posts

Not looking too much like we want this. Swansea players fighting for the ball more, showing more intelligent movement off the ball, playing in passes that are pressurising our back line - all these things we don't seem to be doing at all today.

We need some kind of miracle to get anything other than another bloody nose on our travels. Not sure who might be a miracle worker on present showing?

45 minutes to save the season. NOBODY too good to go down.

Come on you absent on your travels Blues 😞 FFS!

I never felt we were going to go down under JDT, I now feel it’s inevitable

This is shambolic

As many feared its a case of after the Lord Mayors Show...utter shyte!

We have been doing this for years now, it pervades through the club. Whenever we really need a result in a pressure situation, the performance and results are almost always dire. It is shameful.

Sold Wharton, loaned out Travis, brought in the crocked Fleck and already lumbered us with Moran.

The man responsible for the football side of things, Gregg Broughton ladies and gentleman.

Some manager bounce from Eustace. Will this be 6 games and 0 wins?

Depends if you're being generous and giving him Stoke or not. For me at best it'd be 85% Johnson and 15% Eustace in terms of credit for that match, but regardless it's been pretty poor considering Brittain's triumphant interview telling us "the shackles are off" and the senior players committee claiming they know it isn't good enough and it'll get better. Any timeline on that lads? Wouldn't want to upset you with some scattered boos again.

Completely blame the manager for this one. Played our strongest team against Newcastle which I knew would mean it would have significant consequences for today. Other fans weren't quite so clued up when I said that on Tuesday but here we are now 1 point of relegation...

It's fair to say that JE selecting that little twat from Brighton has rogered us where it hurts.

Waggott's hooked another one, lads.

Come on use your brain?

If Gregg had actually control he would have spent more than £0. The board gave the instruction no fees

Completely agree with this.

We were leaking goals for fun under JDT, but I felt we’d turn it around.

Now, we’re just dreadful front to back.

Sorry, you simply cannot blame him for this. Waggott and the owners have sabotaged this together. No money spent players sold or loaned out to save money and although the fans do not deserve relegation, it’s happening in my opinion.

Brittain should be ashamed of his performances this season. Can't hide behind the excuse that it's the manager now.

Just a very limited player, a poor defender and the decision making of a lobotomised chimp.

Technically, but I wouldn’t include the Newcastle game either way, was an “achievement” that leads to nowt.

I’m conscious we’re still in the “FFS, give him time” window, but we really don’t have time for this kind of thing, if we want to stay up. He simply has to find a way to get points quickly and - honestly - I don’t think he has anything in his locker that says he can do that.

Not really his fault that he hasn’t parachuted into a club to try and pick them up before, or that things are massively going against him, but I still think he takes us down this season. Not really seen what he’s trying to do on the pitch, it’s just a mish-mash of ideas. Waggott making the call creates the extra bit of confirmation bias in me to think so.

First to admit that Tuesday suspended all disbelief on my side as it looked like he’d managed to get a grip of the mentality and instil some belief, but the work since then has clearly left us extremely exposed to a loss. Worth noting that we had a coherent strategy on Tuesday, which we executed well. What are we even looking to do today? How are we planning to get at Swansea? What was the team selection looking to do, except reward one good performance from a few players?

Classic Rovers, only ever turn up when there's no pressure to perform. All the optimism from midweek blown up in 45minutes.

Seems the manager is Waggott's yes man who came in to stop the fans revolting, but clearly can't get the wins needed to save us.

We're going down and we won't be coming back.

Venkys Out

Some ability, perhaps. Mentality? Weak as piss. I'd have Nyambe there instead any day, and Nyambe is no world beater either.

Buckley, Moran, Dolan, McFadzean and Gallagher played between 45 and 70 minutes. Pickering didnt play a minute. Pears cant blame tiredness on chucking one in. Not really sure this boastful post is quite on the money, weve been playing like this for months.

We've actually looked pretty solid under Eustace - today is just a terrible performance.

Glad to see he's taken Moran off.

Yep won't disagree. However, I feel eustace was an uninspired choice

He is, but he's exactly what Waggott wants. He'll keep us up on a shoestring (if he can keep us up past this season), but it won't be  pretty football.
