2024/25 Season Tickets

At one stage, in the relative halcyon days of the PL, I had half a dozen season tickets which were used for family and business purposes.

Now I have none, and haven't had so for some time, and don't envisage having any in the foreseeable future.

The bottom line, IMO, as @roverbluehas pointed out, the match day experience is utter sh1te and I haven't the slightest inclination to waste either my time or money in going to Ewood.

I do think the club takes the p1ss out of its supporters who simply don't deserve what has happened under this ownership.

If season ticket sales dive and attendances fall even further then it would send out a clear message.

Any rational supporter can sit back in the cold light of day and think going forward, they will be able to see circa half the Rovers' games live on tv and for the other games, match day tickets could be bought if wanted.  Result - most existing season ticket holders will be at least £200/£300 better off when you weigh-in other factors such as travel, food, drinks etc; add to that the improvements to quality of life (family, time to do other things, no aggravation re-arranging work commitments) and it becomes a no brainer if the match day experience is so poor.

Huge, huge changes need making to how we price season tickets and the overall match day experience, however, sadly, I don't think the nous exists at Ewood to see the bigger picture and react accordingly.  Worse still, I don't think they care.

In the 80s, 10 of my extended family had season tickets, now none.

They used to price to the local market and that's something Bradford and Huddersfield have done with more recently Preston and Bolton cottoning on.

Here now though they price to a monetary target that presumably includes nice bonuses and incentives to hit and breach.

The prices will almost certainly come out on Monday/Tuesday next week I would say.

See if Bolton get promoted then they can give the tickets the hard sell focusing on the 3 huge Lancashire derbies included in the package.

The fat prick will be praying they come up too as Oxford wouldn't exactly bring big numbers. On a similar note he'll not be happy if Leeds win in the final either, playing well tonight...

Also means the 1875 club will attract folk who can't be arsed clamouring for tickets for the few away games likely to sell out.

I think they do see the bigger picture, but it goes back to your second point - they don't care about it. As why would they when the strategy that comes down from the non long term-CEO are are set to short term revenue targets, not bums on seats (just like his targets and bonus funnily enough)

Just rinse the core and forget about the future fanbase.

If the thousands are staying away until Venkys have gone, why would the price matter?

Not being facetious,it's a serious question.

The club has a habit of releasing STs etc on a Friday, so if it isn’t tomorrow then yes they are definitely waiting for Bolton.

Companies often release bad news just before close of business on a Friday.

Well obviously I don’t know. But I would deem it highly improbable that ten thousand plus fans who stopped going 11/12 years ago and now do all manner of other things with their time and money would suddenly be charging back to watch second division football just because the ownership had changed. Or fans generally who have stopped going more recently because they are being charged top whack for a crap product would again come straight back because of a different name on the door. Or the general floating or lapsed fan that just doesn’t want to put their hand in the pocket for the current crap product at top prices.

The reason gates can’t grow is because of the said crap product at top prices this regime implements, not the regime itself. If the owners oversaw an improvement in one or preferably both of those, crowds would increase, quick (they won’t because, you know, Venky’s).

I'd say a change in ownership would bring a few thousand back.

Definitely not the 12+k season ticket holders that we've lost but we'd be looking at 11-12k season tickets sold.

Prices play a huge factor in that obviously but anyone who takes over that isn't totally brain dead will understand this is an issue that needs addressing.

I think its a mixture.

For some price is everything. If it costs too much or they don't see value for money in the product they won't buy one. Venkys or no Venkys, PL football or League One football.

This becomes especially important where large numbers of games are moved to inconvenient or impossible kick off times. We have a lot of fans who live quite a distance from Ewood who can't or don't want to travel in early doors or evenings.

Simply speaking there isn't value in the product. I doubt some of those people care less about Venkys or Waggott, they'll simply weigh up their budgets and act on that.

Here we have the perfect storm. A very poor product / atmosphere, abysmal marketing and sales policies and in the last few years expensive prices. When you apply all that to a relatively small home fanbase it's a recipe for disaster.

Others will have their eyes on other matters above and beyond merely price. I'm one of those. If new owners took over tomorrow and announced they were charging an extra £100 on last season I'd pay it and give them the benefit of the doubt, whereas even at £300 a season I feel uncomfortable handing my money to this regime.

I'm sure if there was a change of ownership there would be a surge in numbers of some degree. Probably not 5000+ but maybe a couple of thousand of people wanting to enjoy a fresh start and support the new regime. The key of course is whether the new people would harness that positivity and build on it, or waste it like this lot have several times.

Have to say I don't always agree with some of your comments on here JH, but think you're spot on with this post

I let my season ticket lapse last season after fifty odd years of more or less continuous attendance.

Broughton leaving (if indeed he has left) is a start - despite everything I would probably renew if the undertaker Waggott were to be ousted as well.

Not that I expect anyone in authority at the Club to give a flying one.

Just saying.

North West Football

Early bird price and standard prices.

Cheapest stand - Mid prices stand - Expensive stand.

Bolton's cheapest end was the South Stand Lower which holds just over 3000. The price was £249 for a renewal or £279 for a new applicant. This is what the price should be in at least one end at Ewood. Just to attract border line people where price is a real big issue.

The ongoing prices are all too expensive,  and probably what Waggot will compare his season ticket prices to.

He will come out with a lame excuse why we couldn't have a proper early bird rate.

Yeah it was difficult to put everything in as some have discounts for renewals and some don't, so I did it from the view of a new / lapsed season ticket holder looking to return. But you are right, Bolton's renewal price was £249

It will probably be announced that there is a massive reduction in the price of early-bird tickets, but the early-bird offer end date is 16/May.

Another email today about match day experience survey. Is it me or do we have one of these every 6 months and nothing changes.

It's just a ruse to make it appear to the League and others that we are engaging supporters and meeting our customer charter in asking for feedback.
