A thoughtful and extremely well written piece. As one of the same generation (only 60 years supporting in my case) I agree entirely with the sentiments put forward. Well said, Fred! Loved the T.S. Eliot quote.

I agree with the comparison with Sammi and Andy McEvoy. Both converted midfielders who scored plenty of goals.
