leeds will spend a fortune to stay in the premier league,it does`nt always work out that way but i can see them surviving their first season,as for our imbecile neighbours, parker has a shocking record in the premier league🤣,be like southampton, actually trying to outfootball far better teams like kompany did

I think Leeds under Farke will do well next season and I think they will spend sensible in the summer on quality players

PNE sweating

Only 3 points above relegation zone after today

They aren't happy, I worked with 2 PNE ST's and after tonight loss they are very unhappy. They don't rate Heckingbottom and would like a change of head coach come the summer, they had similar opinion on Lowe last summer.

Signing BBD was their master stroke.

Wasn't their master stroke signing Tom Cannon who they bought for big money and hasn't hit the ground running or scored enough goals for them. BBD has 4 gaols in 17 games for them

The two championship clubs promoted are American owned. The two likely clubs promoted from Division 1 are American owned. Ipswich who went from Division 1 to the premiership and back down are American owned.

The new style of American ownership is not the dinosaur Glazer/Boehly  style of financial manipulation. It is a more passionate long term approach which is demanding but exciting. We need a slice of  that.  Our heritage is very marketable in the  right hands.

I really hope Stockport get promoted, as it stands its a pretty dull championship next season from my perspective. As gutting as it can be losing to the twats up the road it's still a unique couple of matches. The teams coming down from the prem are very much meh category and mainly long treks.

Bolton have fluffed it, wouldn't have minded playing them again.

Preston doesn't excite me one bit, I know some consider then a derby but not me.

As for the teams coming up, Birmingham will probably do ok next season but again no excitement in that one. Wrexham would be ok I guess but I assume a small allocation. Wycombe/Charlton/Orient/Reading though? 😴

Well, will we even get the PNE one?

I’d wager, just about, largely due to quite a few permeations need to go against them, but tell you what if the season had a couple of more weeks to run I think they’d go, gone in to free fall.

Orient would be a new ground for most and a London away is always good craic if you can sort a decent priced train. Stockport, definitely, great for boozers. Wrexham, about 1,300 tickets, I think, so be a mad scramble.

part good recruitment and the fact you need to be difficult to beat, all the three promoted sides this year have been wide open every game, ourselves and bolton did`nt survive ten seasons in the premier league by trying to outplay everyone, thats just a recipe for relegation

We were at our absolute peak when we were the bully boys that you didn't fuck with.

That tells you everything you need to know about how to play in that league (or any other for that matter)

Remember doing Orient as the first game of the 75-76 season.  Rovers ran a train direct from Blackburn to a Station near the ground.  Can't believe it's 50 years ago!

Would have like Blackpool to come up this season, so someone like Orient or Stockport County would be prefer teams now that's not happening

I too was on that train. It was the first match after getting promoted from Division Three and there was a wave of optimism so the train was full.

Oh for the days of 'Specials' again when several hundred like minded supporters travelled together.

First game, after promotion in centenary season, off memory and without checking 1-1 but could be wrong.

Correct

Aug 16th 1975  Score 1-1

Rovers Team that day -

Jones

Heaton, Hawkins, Fazackerley, Burgin

Hird, Waddington, Oates

Beamish, Hickman, Martin

sub Hoy for Waddington.

Beamish scored the Rovers goal in front of  6,054.

i remember seeing Orient play at Ewood in their one and only season at the top level. They held the best Rovers team I’ve ever seen to a 1-1 draw. Their keeper, Mike Pinner, who was an England amateur player back in those days put in a 10/10:performance unfortunately.

Well, here are the permutations needed as far as I can see.

Bookies suggest 25/1 shot so about 4 in 100 - can't be bothered working out my own odds, but will do so if we're still in the hunt next week.

I'm not clever enough to come up with something like that but does the fact Coventry play Middlesbrough in the last game have a bearing on it?

It's built in with the comments on the right hand side arbitro.
