Next job will be in Saudi Arabia. Gerrard will put in a good word. Then maybe back to the States when they've forgotten how poor he is. Then back to a Championship club. Then he'll give Japan a go. You saw it here first.

You normally stop doing something when there are enough signs you aren't good at it (except hanky panky, maybe), but there appear to be enough rich fools prepared to part with their filthy money that I can't blame Rooney for carrying it on.

Good luck to him. If fools are still willing to keep giving him money for nothing then so be it.

Lowe gone from PNE

Blimey, what was the point in him having one game? They'd have been as well binning him off at the end of last season and give the new guy a pre-season with the squad and a full transfer window.

Called it in the prediction thread. Know a lot of Nobbers fans and they hated him and his football.

We’ll now see how deluded they are, because he’s actually finished in very respectable positions in his time there considering they won’t have the biggest budget.

edit: quite a few called it in the predictions thread, I’m not the visionary I thought I was!

Agreed with hindsight, and they had a shocking end to last season, but it’s hard to bin someone off who’s just finished tenth on modest budget.

That's crazy! One game in? That must be the fastest casualty since Norwich lost 7-1 on opening day to Lambert's Colchester about 15 years ago, sacked off their manager and hired Lambert instead!

Their end of season form won't have helped, but there is no shame in losing to Sheffield United who are likely to be up there challenging for the automatic spots. Still, sounds like it was a really poor performance on Friday night and he was a very unlikeable figure amongst PNE fans. It was their great start that sustained their top half finish last year, which was unlikely to happen this time round.

Wonder who they'll go for. Putting 2+2 together and potentially getting 5, they seem to have a few Scandinavian players on their books now, so maybe someone from that part of the World. From the same old names and faces - Gary Rowett is probably the one who's out of work that could go in there and do an ok job.

Think they've lost 6 on the bounce without scoring a goal going back to last season, albeit some tough fixtures in there.

I'd be surprised if they went overseas. They usually stay British. Some solid experienced managers out there - Rowett, Neil, Mowbray, Heckingbottom

Maybe a lower league option - Challinor, Evatt, Alexander

Yeah, some good experienced Champ managers in there. I’d like Mowbray to get the job is he’s fit and well.

Not for American owners by the looks of it.

They could have picked Micky Mouse, he’s American and would do a better job tha Rooney, or maybe they thought he really was Shrek!

Outside shout - Paul Gallagher

In yesterday's match between Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Sky showed a graphic from last season about the number of goals conceded from corners in the Championship. There were four clubs on eleven and we were one of them. After conceding two more on Friday (Don Goodman actually mentioned this) it looks like a potential problem area going forward. Hopefully Eustace and his staff will address this quickly and get us better organised from corners.

No surprised to see Lowe has gone at PNE. Writing as been on the wall for ages. A lot of fans have been unhappy for while there. I don't understand why you allow Lowe all pre season and bring in a couple of signings, now you get rid. Fans booed at half time and full time. My PNE supporting work colleagues/ friends wanted him half way last season.

As for replacements, I think they will look at out of work head coach, someone like Gary Rowett or Gareth Ainsowrth. If you were for a in work head coach, I would look at Ruben Selles at Reading, Michael Skubala at Lincoln or Scott Lindsey at Crawley.

Yes we did. I know the fan base weren't happy about Lowe still being there, his tactics and his lack of plan B

I think Eustace said post match he wasn't happy with us conceded from set pieces and for me, We need a specialist set pieces appointment

If you was a Preston fan, youd surely be pretty underwhelmed by Rowett, certainly in terms of how he will set up.

Suppose he would be a safe pair of hands if little else. They may fear a relegation battle especially if they dont get this right.

Not sure I agree with you here. Rowett would be safe pair of hands if you ambition is just to stay up and little investment. I think they need to play different tactical and formation wise cos looking at their squad, they are set up to play 3 at the back

Gareth Ainsworth would be hilarious.

explain why please? Also why would Rowett be pretty underwhelmed?

If given the choice and it was your decision to appoint the next PNE manager/head coach who would you pick?

Don't rule Neil out - desperate for another job and relatively popular with PNE fans.

Think Rowett's stock fallen to an all time low.

Heckingbottom is probably the hard nosed, ruthless type they need and would move them forward.

is Neil that popular with the fan base? really?

Heckingbottom would want investment and funds which I can't see them doing.

If it was my choice, I would go for Michael Skubala from Lincoln or Scott Lindsey from Crawley. Both played 3 at the back which is what their squad is set up for. No wingers at the club so you can't play 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 formation. It has to be back 3 formation

A keeper who commands his box and organises his defence would help Tony.
