v Stockport County (a) - 13/8/24 - Carabao Cup

Presumably Eustace will take it as a chance to rotate from the few players at his disposal.

Would assume that Ohashi, Weimann, Batth, McFadzean, Buckley and maybe Sigurdsson will be given a game.

Be interesting to see if Szmodics features. Could do with the match fitness so him not being included might say a lot.

If Szmodics plays any part I really will believe theres a chance he will stay. Sure he wont though.

I think we wont rotate the squad much as we are settling into a new system and have a lot of new signings so will want to use the game as opportunity to mesh the first team further together.

Reckon we might see a couple of changes but that's it.

What about if we have sussed them...?

Anything can happen, of course! It is cup football, a banana skin for the Rovers and a shot at glory for Stockport.

COYB!

I hope they have sussed us out, but we are that good, they just couldn't stop us.

Let's hope those 4 goals we scored frightened the living daylights out of them.

One thing for sure, they'll launching that ball into the box at every given opportunity.

                      Pears

Duru.  O'riordan. Batth.  Batty

              Buckley.   ?

Weimann.    Markanday .  Siggurdson

                Ohashi

  Subs:

Second cm with Buckley I'd go for a 45 min split between tronstad and Travis.

Subs

Hilton

Carter

Hyam

Brittain

Travis or tronstad

Hedges

Dolan

Gueye

Vale

If nothing has moved along with szmodics then there's a strong argument to give him an hour for fitness.

They’d be doing that anyway. I expect Baath or MacFad will cope with the high ball.

Great shame Gilsenan is out injured.

There is a case for starting with the 11 who finished on Friday night except swapping out one from Hyam or Carter for Buckley or going 3 at the back and going for Duru in place of Brittain with Duru and Pickering pushed further forward.

Would be good to see Tyjon on the bench.

Would start with a strong 11 - at least for the first half by which time we could be 2 or 3 goals to the good and then make some changes.

Agree with @philiplwould like to see Tyjon involved and if we are winning by 2 or 3 goals, give him half an hour or so.

I think he will go with the following...

Pears

Duru Carter Batth Pickering

Markandey Buckley Tronstad Weimann

Sigurdsson Ohashi

Tyjon off the bench at some point.

Back down to earth with a 2-1 defeat and the urgent need for reinforcements hammered home.

Would like to see Duru get a game, and it makes sense for Batth, Buckley, Markanday, Vale and Siggy to all get minutes. I suspect Gueye will play at some point as he needs minutes, perhaps for the last 30. He perhaps needs it more than Ohashi at this moment.

Doubt they'll play Szmodics in this one if negotiations with Ipswich are still ongoing, given the lack of importance of the fixture in comparison to the league.

I wouldn't mind taking my little lad to this one - is it pay on the gate?
Can't see to buy tickets online for some reason.

I have heard you have to buy tickets via the Stockport web-site.

Why would modern football clubs with half empty stadiums make such things so simple ?

I mean come on this is 1984 2024...

Seems to be out injured a lot that lad.
