But he looks to have enough to give defenders a tough time and to bring others into play. That’ll do. His hold up play and ability to lead a line is something we haven't had since Danny Graham. If he can get 7-10 goals over the season, he will have proven a great bit of business. The bulk of the goals will need to come from another source.

Ricky
He’ll out score Gallagher I reckon. I guess as his replacement that’s all that we can really expect. As others have touched on, if he had the finishing to match his hold up play, he’d be playing at a higher level. We have to hope he can be coached, or hit a bit of form on the finishing side of his game. I think he could still hit double figures for us this season.

Hard to adjust feet when it’s at you that fast. his first effort was fine, smart save by the keeper and then he scored a header. im not concerned. Yeah he snatched at it a bit but is was a rapid and unexpected rebound.
Eddie
I'd rather have the link-up play and be missing the finishing. We have finishers elsewhere in the squad, but our play up front has been severely lacking for some time. With good build-up play and a good positional sense (which he seems to have) he will find himself on the end of chances and get goals - especially in the air. I think he will be 15 goals this season and he already seems to be a huge improvement on what we got out of Gallagher. There will certainly be some frustrating misses, but Gallagher was never even in a position to miss a chance, let alone take one.

Already seen him do more in the way of holdup play and knockdowns in the last two games than what Gallagher did in his entire time here. He looks like he knows how to use his size and stature which is something we've been badly missing up top.
CambridgeRover
Sadly I think Gueye is an awful finisher. Good physical presence and decent hold up play but I don’t think he will be scoring more than say 5
M_B
Granted last night was against Stockport reserves, but he scored one, had one brilliantly saved and almost had another assist for a Yuki goal to add to the one for Dolan against Derby. Not too shabby considering he was blowing out of his arse just into the second half on Friday night.
Popular Post Miller11
It’s really refreshing seeing two proper centre forwards. They are both different but they both seem to understand what their job is. After years of Gallagher running away from goal and wanting to be a winger it really is a sight for sore eyes. Despite their goals Brereton (played wide) and Armstrong (get ball, shoot on sight) weren’t really it. I think we’d definitely see the best of Gueye with an old school crossing winger. Mightn’t be the most natural finisher, but he’s an absolute animal in the air.
chaddyrovers
I reckon Gueye will get 10 goals plus. His movement is class and his hold up play good

arbitro
A really important aspect of Gueye's game is his first touch which so far has been very good. It can buy him a second or two to weigh up his options. In my view that was the worst aspect of Gallaghers game.

Yeah, how good was Rudy with the ball at his feet, but he still scored plenty.

He always seemed to be on his heels when he should have been on his toes.
Danny O.Brien
If he gets 5-10 goals but contributes more by holding up the ball and being dominant in the air that is fine. Especially with so many goals coming from elsewhere.

Rover8T4
Just watched the game back and it was just as good as the first time. So refreshing watching the attacking players movements. After being used to static players with direct runners who were easily marked apart from Sammie. Weimann, Ohashi, Gueye, brought forward runs behind the defence. Not always used but they pulled the defensive shape out of all sorts. Not easily marked and the fluidity 👀they were not in each other's space. Buckley's range of passing in to the holes and in behind utilized these runs and a joy to watch. Edited August 14, 2024 by Rover8T4

I watched the highlights back earlier & I think the biggest issue (apart from how quickly it rebounded to him), was that it would've been more suited to a left footed finish. He tries to adjust himself to take it on his right but doesn't have the time to. Maybe a swing & hope for the best with his weaker foot might've been a better option.

Szmodics could even score more than last year. As someone has already said, he does look like Samba when he was called upon to play upfront. He will certainly give defenders something to worry about, which will give other players more space and time on the ball to do some damage. smiller14
Delighted with Gueye so far, he might miss some but he's getting chances in areas Gally never did. No hiding behind defenders, he seems like the type who will constantly make himself available. Gally's main forte was defending from the front, Gueye seems to do that too - perhaps less effective at pressing but great aerially. He's the type of player we have craved, gives us more variety. Seems pretty popular with his team mates too, and I noticed in highlights he is a vocal player.

Hasta
His finishing with his feet looks poor, but he can certainly use his height in both boxes. And, as Chaddy says, his movement is surprisingly good for a big man which will see him get his fair share of chances. I like him and Yuki so far. It's showing up those people who defended the Broughton's regime panic-buy of Telalavic with "What do you expect working on our budget"

USABlue
Just watched the replay, some of the criticisms seem unjust. Yes County were decimated and a weak squad we did however go about this very professionally. I have seen us do worse against worse. Big Mac looks the part and I think his finishing will get better as he gets up to speed. Yhat said again I think the critics are being harsh. What was it 3 or 4 attempts and one goal, would have been 2 but he tried to play Osashi(love this guy already)in when he probably should have gone for goal. Anyway one goal in 3 attempts not bad at all. Unlike Gally this lad can actually get off the ground he showed more control in two games than I saw from Gally in 10. I am not going to get carried away only 2 games against relatively poor opposition but hey we did win both handsomely and with a bit of style. To be fair a lot of posters myself included thought flair is something we would not see under Eustace. I really really hope Sammi stays. I did not bear any songs encouraging him to stay or songs deriding Ipswich. Should be going full tilt n boogie to let him know he is loved here. If he keeps this up so eone is going to come in and out bid Ipswich. What a delightful chip from Pickering to set up SS for his 2nd.
