Interviews in the LT today with Batty and Markanday.

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/24724398.blackburn-rovers-talent-first-loans-first-team-dreams/

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Markanday wants to do similar to Gent and move on to be first choice somewhere.  So can see Rovers either selling in January or in the summer (after triggering his option).  Markanday will be 24 during the summer so probably the right call if he is not going to become first choice at Rovers, which is unlikely to happen unless he pushes on or unless Rovers are relegated (which may delay a decision on him until the summer)

Batty sounds happy to come back as cover/competition, but is out of contract in the summer, so that would obviously need sorting.  Given that Batty is 4 years Markanday junior, can see him signing a 2 or 3 year contract with an option to see if he can make the breakthrough.

George Gent looks to have done well with his move. Had a difficult start but is now one of Barnsley's best players, from what I've read.

Has to be a club record, probably by some distance.

The week before it was 19, Goddard was still out on loan to Dundalk at that time.

Numbers may start coming down now unless new/extended loans are agreed, Honor, Edmondson & Davies loans end this week unless they are extended, and Farkas the week after.  Olson's ends soon too

start this eve for

Honor won 2-1

I went to this game and Honor was decent, made some good saves, kicked well and looked confident. The goal he conceded was scored by former Dingle George Boyd. In a physical match there was a red card for a Wythenshawe player, several red cards and a few mass confrontations. It was £7 well spent.

Watched Kristi Montgomery playing for Marine at Chorley yesterday. Not out of place at this level and had a decent game probably one of the better players on view.

That's good for him for sure. Though you have to assume, at 20 years old and on loan at Marine in the National League North, he won't be making it at Blackburn Rovers. Sounds like he will be able to get his career going at that level or slightly higher when we release him though.

Contracted to 2026. Next loan should be at a higher level. National League and see how he does.

I mean, ok, but I can't see how he possibly makes it if this is the level he's playing at aged 20. I suppose absolute best case scenario would be he gets a League Two loan next (unlikely), plays unexpectedly well, gets a chance in the first team squad the season after and performs unexpectedly well then too, earning a new deal. But I don't see it...that's three steps that all seem unlikely to me if the best he can do at 20 is get a NLN loan. Guess we'll see, but if I were a bookie I'd offer very high odds on him even making a senior league appearance here.

And there's no shame in that, it's not easy to become a Championship player in your early 20s, very few can do it. If he puts in the work and has potential, maybe he gets up to this league by his late 20s.

Starts this evening for

Eastham lost 4-2

Honor won 1-0

Batty not involved for Accrington tonight as they drew 2-2, must have failed a late fitness test

Olson must either be injured or his loan did expire after a month rather than at the end of this month.  Not sure which and cannot find anything either way.  He is not Involved in Altrincham's National League Cup game which they lost 4-0

Not sure what has happened with Mullarkey-Matthews.  He joined Bamber Bridge on a loan until January, but hasn't featured for them since September, possibly injured, possibly out of favour, but he did feature regularly in a short term loan for them last season, and scored in his last appearance for them, so suspect its an injury.  To further confuse things, he featured for Rovers U18s at the beginning of November but hasn't been seen since.  He is not involved in their squad tonight as they won 3-2

Definitely right to extend his loan, going well that one. Any idea how many he has played? Stats at that level don't seem easy to find.

2 goals in 5 (all starts) so far, mainly playing as part of a deep midfield 2 from what I understand, but also occasionally as one of the 3 behind the striker.

https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/macclesfield/appearances/james-edmondson/977878

From what I have read, Macclesfield are essentially the Man City (prior to Rodris injury) of non league, currently 10 points clear of second place, much more money than anyone else and a team/squad that is at least a tier ahead of the division that they are in (in terms of quality).

Because Edmondson has been impressive and a first choice pick in midfield for them, playing close to every minute, I would suspect that the loan extension may put him in the frame for a second loan in January to a higher tier team
