A mixed bag, links are to each players stats for the season.  Those highlighted in bold are still out on loan until the end of the season unless otherwise stated

 

Garrett - age 21 - Bristol Rovers (3rd tier) - 11 games in total, 7 in the League, but only 2 starts

O'Riordan - age 21 - Cambridge (3rd tier) - 8 game in total, 4 in the league

Markanday - age 23 - Chesterfield (4th tier) 7 goals & 3 assists in 24 games, seems likely to be recalled and loaned to Leyton Orient in League 1

Batty - age 19 - Accrington (4th tier) was a regular starter before a knee injury, only recently returned to the bench

Vale - age 23 - Motherwell (Scot Prem) seems to be playing now he is fit

Saadi - age 23 - Ethnikos Achnas (Cypriot Prem) - hardly got off the bench to start with, but has been a regular starter for a while now

Olson - age 20 - Altrincham (5th tier) - seems to have taken his chance

Gamble - age 21 - Fylde (5th tier) not got off the bench in 2 months

Goddard - age 20 - Dundalk (Irish Prem) then Ebbsfleet (5th tier) - seems to have been given a chance initially at both clubs before being dropped to the bench

Powell - age 19 - Chorley (6th tier) seems to be a regular, loan due to end next week unless extended

Atcheson - age 18 - Marine (6th tier) - regular starter barring injury/International call ups

Montgomery - age 20 - Marine (6th tier) - regular starter barring injury

Bell - age 19 - Marine (6th tier) - Marine have not yet played due to postponements since signing Bell. Loan due to end mid Feb unless extended

Wood - age 20 - Annan (Scottish 3rd tier) - Scored 1 in 6, then vanished for whatever reason

Eastham - age 23 - Ashton Utd (7th tier) - first choice keeper

Edmondson - age 19 - Macclesfield (7th tier) Key player for Macclesfield

Boggan - age 17/18 - Macclesfield (7th tier) - didn't feature

Davies - age 18 - Warrington Rylands (7th tier) - Played 4 games in a months loan

Shaw - age 18 - Alvechurch (7th tier) - scored 1 in 6 games

Mullarkey-Matthews - age 17/18 - Bamber Bridge (7th tier) - played early on then vanished, possibly injured but no idea

Michalski - age 17 - Bamber Bridge then City of Liverpool  (7th then 8th tier) - has got some playing time at both clubs

Honor - age 18 - Clitheroe then Atherton (7th then 8th tier) - played 3 games at Clitheroe before dropping down a level and being first choice keeper at Atherton

Kahn - age 19 -  City of Liverpool (8th tier) - played the 2 games he was signed to play in, as cover for Michalski

Farkas - age 18 -  City of Liverpool (8th tier) - Played 7 games in a month

Markanday loan to Orient now confirmed. 

He may make his debut on Saturday vs Peterborough, which is live on Sky Sports + at 12:30 for those interested

Markanday's goals record for us is 1 in 7 (5 goals in 35 games).

For Chesterfield it was 1 in 3.4 (7 goals in 24 games).

Using that incredibly basic and scientifically unsound gauge, you'd expect him to land about a goal every 5.2 games playing at a level inbetween the two. Lets see if that ends up being ballpark.

(Completely ignoring that 4 of his 5 for us have come in the League Cup not the league, and that the vast majority of his games for us have been off the bench, as I can't be arsed to calculate all that...well ok I did it anyway, adjusted for 90 minutes, he essentially averages about 1 every 8.38 full games for us in the league going off just last season and ignoring his tiny cameos in prior years, and 1 every 3.34 in the league for Chesterfield, so you'd expect about 1 every 5.9 games in League One).

Not sure that we can be that exact,  but if he puts in a decent performance v Man City (or because it would make me chuckle, scores the goal that dumps them out of the FA Cup) then that might add a bit to his eventual transfer fee.  Markanday not cup tied so can play, and sounds like a tie that will be picked for TV

Of course, I only mean in that general vicinity, but also I'm mostly just knocking up numbers for fun. Will be interesting to see if it's anywhere near accurate, but football seldom works like that. He could as easily score at a better rate for Chesterfield as he could go on to not score at all for Orient in just a half season where who knows if he'll even be given much opportunity. Our other League One loans have gone dreadfully this season, hopefully this one is better.

If it is close to accurate, you need to start a new career in either punditry or football betting syndicates 😉 

By all accounts, Orient have an injury crisis of their wide players, so he should get his chance initially, it will then be up to Markanday to take it

I'd be pretty pleased with my guesstimate if it's out by 0.5 or less either way. Still, I might need to be right more than once to make a career!

Good. They've been on a crazy winning run so I feared he might struggle to get his first chances. Lets hope he hits the ground running then.

Starts this weekend for 

Markanday - drew 0-0 - former Rover Tayo Edun started for Peterborough

Vale - lost 1-0

Duru - lost 2-0 - edit - Barrow manager was sacked following the game (credit Arbitro)

Olson - won 2-1 - Altrincham now 6th and in a play off spot

Eastham - won 5-0 - Ashton Utd 5th and in the final play off spot

Honor - lost 2-1

 

On the bench

Batty - lost 3-0 - Came on at half time with the score at 2-0

Goddard - drew 1-1

Bell - lost 3-1 - came on for the last 30 minutes

 

Not involved in matchday squad

Powell - drew 2-2 - Powell was involved for our U21s last night

Saadi  - drew 0-0 - possibly injured as he was withdrawn late on in their last game, or maybe Rovers are recalling him in light of Tronstads injury (before anyone panics, I am not being entirely serious about a recall)

Reading the Barrow forum to try and get an idea on how Duru got on, it seems he played as a right back in a 4-3-3 despite the BBC graphic on their match report stating he was played as a right sided centre back (well done as always BBC).

Not the busiest of forums, but their fans seems happy with Duru despite the result.  Although it sounds like they have had (he was sacked last night) the League 2 equivalent on JDT managing them, too attacking/not considering the opposition/narrow forward line/no protection for the defence/no plan B/sleepwalking down the table/etc

It hasn't been a great start for Duru. Losing yesterday afternoon and his manager sacked in the evening.

I missed that he had been sacked, was just reading through the match thread, although after reading the fans comments, it is no surprise to see him relieved of his duties.

Hopefully whoever replaces him is not adverse to having a rampaging wing back

Lets hope it doesn't end up being another wasted loan. Looking at it now, sending him to a club who only have one league win since 5th October was probably a mistake, that manager was always looking imperilled.

O'Riordan loaned to Crewe, should be a good move for him.  Crewe 2nd in the table, O'Riordan was a regular at Crewe before moving to Rovers, and they have an injury to one of their current first choice centre backs (who is incidentally Rovers academy graduate, James Connolly)

Eustace also confirmed here that Garrett will be loaned out again rather than used by Rovers this season, & McFadzean will be leaving, but unsure if that will be permanent or a loan

News that impacts Leo Duru, Barrow have a new manager.  As far as I can work out he seems to flip between playing 4 and 3 at the back, with overlapping full/wing backs either should suit Duru

Markanday - lost 1-0 - this is a Vertu Trophy match so I expect they are not risking him

Goddard - drew 1-1 - Ebbsfleet won on penalties for an extra point - Goddard picked up a hand injury in training

Powell - drew 0-0 - named in U21s starting lineup.  loan officially ends tomorrow

Personally thought Duru was ready to start, and could have pushed Brittain further forward.

I thought he wasn’t big enough. However he’s as big as Alan Wright was and he was top class.
