He needs games. I like this kid, bit rash but for a pint size lad he has got some gonads, 1 Quote

riverholmes Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Mixed feelings for Edmondson today? Starting again for Macclesfield in National League but if he was at Rovers, he'd have had a fair chance of being on the bench for the seniors given he has been one of the better performers. Instead, O'Grady-Macken makes it. 1 Quote
KentExile Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 (edited) Starts tonight for O'Riordan - won 2-1 Olson - drew 3-3 On the bench Markanday - won 3-2, came on at half time with the score at 1-1, and scored the 3rd Gamble - won 2-0 Atcheson - lost 1-0 Not involved in matchday squad Montgomery was mentioned as being injured last week It is worth noting that Cambridge's and Chesterfield's games are in the EFL trophy, so they are heavily rotated teams Edited December 10, 2024 by KentExile 1 Quote

bluebruce Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Garrett and O'Riordan not even making matchday squads....definitely getting recalled. Turned out to be pointless loans, shame, they both should have been able to secure reasonable game time. Garrett I expected to be a regular, O'Riordan a squad player and hopefully showing promise. Just a wasted half season. 2 Quote
bluebruce Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 And regardless of what RF99 said, I do think the piss has been taken with Garrett. If he doesn't play any more games by January he will have played 7 games in half a season. He managed 21 games last season for us, so averaged out, 50% more game time in a far superior team in a far superior league. I wouldn't loan anyone to Bristol for the next three seasons personally, and I'd be telling them why. 3 Quote
bluebruce Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Garrett's stats for Bristol: Appearances (Starts) 6 (3) Goals (Assists) 0 (0) xG 0.22 Shots (On Target) 4 (1) Pass Accuracy 81.1% Chances Created 3 Tackles Won 81.8% Duels Won 60% Aerial Duels Won 45.5% Recoveries 10 Obviously I haven't watched him, but those look like solid stats for a CM in minimal game time. Certainly not 'get frozen out of the whole matchday squad in a team that aren't even doing well' stats. 3 Quote

Garrett | Bristol Rovers GasChat Forum This might change Garretts situation considerably https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-rovers-set-sack-manager-9793762 Might be worth holding off on recalling him until we see if whoever replaces the manager has Garrett in his plans Edited December 15, 2024 by KentExile Quote
roversfan99 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I dont get how they are taking the piss though. Theyve signed a player and dont deem him to be good enough to play. Maybe that is a mistake by the manager (we cant judge either way by stats) but either way, they shouldnt play him to pacify us just as we would be annoyed if a player we loaned played to pacify the parent club. Playing as much as he did last year was not necessarily because he was up to it. Wharton was sold, Travis fell out with JDT so like in other positions with Markanday and Telalovic, a player not up to the level played too often. It was hoped that he would be able to warrant regular football at League 1 level but it hasnt happened. Hopefully he will get a loan elsewhere and prove his worth. Quote
Backroom Tom Posted December 15, 2024 Backroom Posted December 15, 2024 I don’t think Garrett is good enough, Bristol Rovers obviously don’t either, it happens, unless we were taking the piss with all the failed loans we’ve taken from premier league clubs I may be being unfair but I don’t expect any of those out on loan to make the grade to be honest 1 Quote

You can see what his strength is and, maybe, why he was prolific at U23s level for Spurs. He's an old-fashioned striker, in that he wants to be running onto flicks ons and knock-downs from a strike partner - taking a touch or two and then shooting. One of his problems is that not many play with two forwards, so he ends up wide, where he's basically lost. Edit: Those highlights are great - much better than the 2 min all too brief snapshots you often get. Edited December 15, 2024 by riverholmes Quote

They rotate Grigg and Madden as the lone forward. Yesterday he played wide right (*) * not as a winger, but as in inside forward 1 Quote
