Tomphil2 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Probably because he's had a few good games and caught the attention of a few scouts so they'll get him back here and put a few Championship mins in him so they can ask for a couple of hundred grand. The gap between that level at Chorley and the Championship is huge so there can be no other reason. Quote

KentExile Posted April 4 Posted April 4 (edited) Chorley article & reaction on twitter to Montgomery's recall, couple of nice comments from their fans on the twitter link https://www.chorleyfc.com/blogs/news/kristi-montgomery-recalled-by-blackburn-rovers CHORLEY FC can confirm that Kristi Montgomery has been recalled from his loan spell with the Magpies and will return to his parent club, Blackburn Rovers. 20-year old central midfielder, Kristi, initially signed for Andy Preece's side in February; making his debut against South Shields before an injury in that game hampered him for game time. Having said that, Kristi's loan was extended after an initial month through to the end of the season and the Scotsman went on to make seven appearances, scoring once - a goal of the season contender against Spennymoor Town last weekend. Andy Preece had the following to say following Kristi's recall. "Kristi has been in great form for us so doesn't surprise me that he's been recalled. Topping it off with a fantastic strike on Saturday. I can't speak highly enough of him, not just as a footballer but as a character. I think this could just be a start for Kristi. A massive thank you to Blackburn Rovers for allowing him to come to us. Our record with loan players continues to be impressive. Credit to our recruitment team and all the staff involved. People will think it's another blow on back of Dubem Eze being recalled. but, for us it's what we've faced from day one of the season and look where find ourselves. I couldn't be more proud of the lads." Thank you again to Kristi for his contributions in black and white, and we wish him all the best for the future! Edited April 4 by KentExile 2 Quote

The scary thing is, that is the market Rovers under the current hierarchy will be shopping in if/when they do decide to replace him (see Toth & Wahlstedt for confirmation of this). We had better hope that Michalski is good, (but not too good, so that he stays a few years) Edited April 10 by KentExile 1 Quote
KentExile Posted April 10 Posted April 10 (edited) Thursday Start for O'Riordan - lost 3-2 Friday On the bench Saadi - won 2-1 - After an initial bedding in, he was in the starting 11 for the second half of the season until they were essentially confirmed as mid table following the split of the league (similar to in Scotland), since which point he has been relegated to the bench for the remainder of the season - Not sure what Rovers will have learned from this loan, strange that he was given a contract extension last summer Not involved in matchday squad Mafoumbi - won 1-0 - have one game left, cannot go up or down, and he has not even been named on the bench so far - Unless this loan has an option/obligation to buy, I cannot for the life of me understand why he wasn't given a non league loan in January Edited April 15 by KentExile 1 Quote

I believe from this article (quote below), that this season, it was ultimately Stuart Jones, who is leaving in the summer " “From a development perspective, we’ve identified that loan moves are really important for young players, so we’ll be looking to develop a loan strategy and really drive that process to ensure that our young players get out to develop in senior football. “I’ll then be managing those players whilst they’re out on loan, in terms of keeping in contact with them, going to watch them in games, reporting back and having a close relationship with the clubs, as well as managing the high-potential players within the top end of the Youth Development Phase (YDP) and across the 17-21 age group." Thanks for that, saved my sanity somewhat. I thought my confusion was the inevitable consequence of a season of staring at far too many team lineups and scores all at once every week 🙂 Edited Sunday at 08:04 by KentExile Quote
