roversfan99
Beck did very well on his debut, but lets not forget that Pickering has been very good in the 3 games prior. A genuine selection dilemma of the good kind.

Beck looks better going forward…Obviously didn’t get much chance today but when he did, he looked really controlled…Looking forward to him when he’s got plenty of space…Eustace seems to rate Pickering so it’s going to be a very tough decision for him. Was not so instant, he was on the ground ffs. Tyrone Shoelaces
1 minute ago, RevidgeBlue said: That can happen when the linesman is almost right on top of the play. He’s got to watch the ball and the passer and then instantly move his head to spot the runners to his right. By time he’s focussed the striker could have run off side. A linesman on the other side of the pitch would have a better view.

The thing forgotten is he shouldn't have had the first yellow card. Referee was inciting the players from the beginning and if it hadn't been Gueye it would have been someone else. He had the perfect opportunity to send Hannibal off and didn't.
Popular Post Rover down South
First post since Feb 2017! Been a mere spectator on the forum ever since! I’ve been really impressed this season (Blackpool game aside) and the recruitment has been fantastic considering the ‘allowable’ budget given. The new players have been superb so far and given 100%. Silly moment from Gueye today, but he plays with so much passion, I think it got the better of him in that moment. Owen Beck looks a fantastic addition and if he keeps up that consistently, our defence will be so much stronger for it. Andi Weimann to me, is such a great acquisition. Always been a player I wished we had and his goal today was something special. Brings a wealth of experience for the younger players and the recent arrivals from other leagues. I have a real positive feeling about this season. I think John Eustace is the right man for the job. It’s early days, but top half finish definitely achievable. All four teams we’ve played currently occupy top half so fingers crossed we can keep up the momentum🤞 Looking forward to a great season and the introduction of ACD & TC. ⚪️🔵⚪️🔵
Backroom Madon Posted August 31, 2024 Backroom Share Posted August 31, 2024 Pears isn't great but I do think he gets a lot of unwarranted stick. He's a championship keeper, toughest position on the pitch and they're always going to make mistakes. Raya made a few howlers for us himself and now he's arguably the world's best. McFadzean was practically gaffer today for the last 15 minutes, barking instructions on the touchline and that's why he's here. Even when every sub had been made he was still there. Proud of the boys today, we are looking like a decent side and with Mini Saka and Cantwell to come who knows what might happen. They'll struggle with those forwards against better defences. And that Hannibal fellow is just a bumbling bully in the centre of the park... £5.4m rising to £9m!? Had the second goal been allowed I don't think they'd have had a response and we'd have perhaps scored more. And that's against Rovers, a team with a very dodgy keeper, a dodgy defence, players still getting used to each other and a young fullback who got thrown in after only being at the club for a couple of days. I can't see them in the automatic spots come the end of the season. The championship is a bonkers league. Every team us capable of beating any other. Unlike the last couple of years there is no standout team from the relegated bunch. Think the dingles and Sheff U will be in the top 6 but no team runs away with it this year. All to play for - Lets see if we can avoid a death spiral under Eustace.

I have already said he shouldn't have done it and will have to learn from it, but the ref could have used common sense and gone and had a word as Sky Sports studio presenters said. The common sense has gone out of football. The Ref was yellow card happy with our players but he didn't sent Hannibal off when he should have done, just a word. 36 minutes ago, roversfan99 said: The disallowed goal is something we can feel aggrieved about, if only we had VAR as it was tight. its a basic decision and that shouldn't need VAR. Popular Post Dundee1962
Dundee fan here. I realise we are not playing at the same level as you but Owen Beck was a total revelation for us last season. He started off slightly suspect in defence, sometimes losing the ball well up field trying something overly ambitious (which left us in the sh1t once or twice) but that side of his game really improved as the season went on. Offensively he is fantastic, it was like having Andy Robertson mark 2. Hope he produces the goods for you guys and you will cherish young Owen like we do. Good luck for the season.
Inferi
I was very sceptical about our chances in this game but we battled hard and could have won the game. Eustace and every player deserves a lot of credit for how we performed today. Horrific performance from the referee and linesman. The "imaginary card rule" is not enforced consistently, thus making it feel like the referee chose to send off Gueye because he wanted to. Especially considering how pathetic the first booking was. A Rotherham player received a similar red card when we played them last season, and it felt unfair back then too. The offside decision was a joke, not even close.

I’d love to go back and find your reaction when the Rotherham player got a red for doing it against us last season. I’m betting you weren’t asking the ref to have a word with him then.
superniko
Didn’t the commentator say they didn’t have a shot on target after the 25th minute or something? This Burnley side has only managed more than 1.0 xG in 1 match out of 4 so far. They’re not even making the top 6 with Parker this season then it’ll be complete financial free fall for them after that.

Yeah - loads of them don’t want to be there, and if they’re not far away top 2 in January then a few will want out. Benson was absolutely comically today - you don’t get promoted with trash like that in your squad. Their board is so delusional. All doom and gloom last week and now they actually think that was a good performance. No shot on target and less than 1xG vs 10 men. They’re absolutely useless and miles behind Leeds for sure.
RTM08
They're classic Scott Parker - he spends a ton of money with a relegated team and usually just does enough to scrape his way to promotion. Massively overrated manager.
