Too many players who looked at about the right level tonight. We'll have to move on, but a disappointing night for sure.

Not sure what's going on with JRC, but he's looked off since game one. Worrying. I don't think Vale is even good enough for League 1. Why is he still here? Buckley will be 25 in two months and is regressing for every year he gets older. Sad state of affairs.

Oh well. Roll on Saturday, I guess.

Goodness. Well that's the cup excuses gone for the season. We surely can't be in a relegation battle this season now...can we?!

A few injuries and absolutely.

One of the big differences today was Hedges and Dolan coming off the bench to save us - they're just not good enough at this level. Their end product is crap.

Blackpool looked comfortable on the ball all night. More so than us. We had one player in the team able to beat his man in Duru who's a right back. Was looking forward to a decent cup run 😕

That will be coached out of him like it has been with Dolan.

Gotta love modern football.

That's the first goal we've conceded this season due to playing that way (and realistically JRC should have seen it coming a mile away).

I know Pears has flirted with gifting the opposition a goal in the last few games because he's useless with his feet / decision making, but I don't think the style of play is the problem.

I think the second Gueye goes off you've got nobody to aim those long balls to.

Didn't Brittain give one away against Norwich?

Also lucky when Pears passed straight  to their forward on the 6 yard box in the same game.

Playing out that way is going to cost goals over the season. We saw that last year.

I don't think we are going to score many this year so the fewer we concede the better.

Gueye on the pitch undoubtedly makes us a better side at the moment.

I don't know what to make of that performance other than it stank to high heaven. Both the manager and the players should be ashamed.

Utter rubbish.

Just glad that was a freebie.

Disgraceful performance.

Buckley was about the best of the dross.

We are in big trouble without quality additions to IMPROVE THE STARTING ELEVEN.

Only highlight was the opportunity to meet Morten Gamst Pedersen after the match and listen to him talk about his times with Rovers and the great memories - a lovely, articulate young man.

That should open a few eyes tonight. This squad of players is terribly weak and is going to find the long hard slog of a Championship season a huge challenge. Where is the penetration, whose going to replace Smodics’s 30+ goals?

No threat down the right and we finished tonight watching Sigurdson turning back to cross with his right foot towards Ohashi. That was it really. Scary.

We don’t just need bodies, we need class and in more than one area.

JRC just can't hack it in the middle, he looks unfit and if he is he shouldn't be playing.

He should be nowhere near starting on Saturday.

Hyam and Pears continue to be a worry for that game as well, Hyam was like a big pansy in the last one over there.

Going out of this early may not seem like it right now but cold be a blessing in disguise with this thin squad.

The decision to loan out Garrett was always a terrible move unless he was going to be replaced. We’re desperately short in DM. In theory, as a left footer, he could’ve covered LB.

The club’s forward signings look promising but elsewhere, a lot to be desired. Beck looks promising albeit, late in the day.

We do have a lot of goalkeepers & ambling centre backs though.

Surprised to see people thought Buckley had a decent game tonight. I thought he was terrible and is regressing at a rate of knots.

JRC I never really saw the fuss about in the first place so I'm less surprised about that but Buckley......... he has a lot of natural talent.

Was it Stoke away in the first half of Mowbray's last season when he ran the show?

Unrecognisable now.

Not a joke, no.

He's definitely not fit. Does that warrant selling him?

How’s he not fit?

He played the last two months of last season, and all pre-season friendlies.

If it’s cos he’s carrying a knock, what’s he doing starting tonight when the other midfielders are all being rested.

I thought the initial problem was mentally we approached that like a friendly. A lot of the first half was going through the motions, but having generally controlled it to then make 5 changes second half was strange. Yes we were under the cosh, but changing so many players was a complete reset which didn’t work.

Whereas Blackpool looked like they were playing for Keogh and also to prove a point. They must have sensed we were going through the motions as they came out second half with an extra 10% work rate and everyone 10 yards up the pitch to press us and we couldn’t cope.

JRC was that bad I don’t see how he can retain his place Saturday.

Decent debut for Duru, and I thought all of the ‘new’ lads were ok if not spectacular.

He didn't exactly have a lot of competition.

We barely won a game in the second half of that season and he was as bad as everyone else.

We finished 7th, the highest we have finished since relegation from the top tier, but sure, he 'didn't have a lot of competition' for player of the season.

Thankfully it was this derby and not Saturday..

There is a pattern of us letting a goal in immediately after we make substitutions. Not only did we leak but this time the choice of replacements by Eustace was all wrong.

Duru was the one bright spark but even he was affected by the lurgy.

JRC was a total liability. What has happened to him?

Buckley has ability but no football brain.

Vale less ability and no football brain.

Sigurdsson couldn't find space against an injury hit league 1 defence so Pickering hardly ever passed to him

Ohashi should have been introduced when the equaliser went in.

Gueye sent the keeper away before rolling it in so actually it was a very good penalty.

I don't know, but did he look like a professional athlete at peak fitness last night to you?

He probably plays cos the manager likes him and we've got a shit squad.

I'm not defending his performance, he was abject, but to sell one of the few players with bite, drive and a bit of talent would be madness. Unless of course anyone thinks the money would be reinvested, in which case I don't want to hear from them.

JRC is at his best at RB,,,bombing down the wings and cutting in more often than not...play him where he at his natural position instead of Brittain who is afraid of a tackle and is never up for a relegation battle...used to be a huge critic of the lad but play him where he fits and see what happens
