We did well in both cups the previous season, look what happened.

We did well in the cup 2002, look what happened, stayed in the PL.

Personally treat the cups as momentum gainers (and money).

No doubt your still wearing your Alan Shearer shirt from 30 years ago, those days are long gone,  and were a club in debt with a flimsy squad these days.  Join the real world, those days have long gone.

I was'nt that interested in last nights result, neither were a lot that were there in the Blackburn end. I agree 100% with John Eustace, the cups are not our top priority, improving on our disasterous league position last season is, and then building the foundations for success.

I doubt a shirt for age 2-3yrs old would fit me now tbh

I see Ipswich got knocked out by AFC Wimbledon last night, choosing to play the game without our their talisman / leader from the front Sammie Szmodics. Their reward is a plum tie at home against the barcodes, whilst Rovers, if we'd held our nerve, would have had a winnable game against the Hillsborough hordes.

Team selection is an important influence on outcome in this wonderfully unpredictable and complex game we all love so much, but on the day, it's the team that wants it the most that will prevail...

Bring on the Dingles 😉

Yet you were all full of praise for JRC, when he got Rovers back in the game against Oxford  on Saturday. Two faced values.

I did don't think I wrote anything on this board about the game at the weekend actually.

Could be a blessing in disguise, concentrate on improvement in the Championship this season with less games to play.

To be fair, the Stockport result was great (entertainment, opportunity for fringe players to get game time etc), so had hoped for another win against Blackpool and then either another 'easy' match, or a glamour tie.  I get the league is more important (hence the use of fringe players), but a better result (and performance) shouldn't have been beyond us.

It shouldn't have been but we've an incredibly thin squad and it looked like the players either thought a game against league one Blackpool was too easy for them or they didn't want to get too fatigued or pick up an injury with the dingles at the weekend.
