den Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 I thought he got slightly ahead of the ball. Yuki's ball across was excellent but Gueye got a bit excited and misread the weight of the pass for me. Too busy grinning for the press. Quote

Lancaster Rover Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Regarding his temperament, I thought their sending off caused a break in play that stopped him getting another booking. For a good 5 or 10 mins he seemed hell bent on picking up a second booking, with the game at 2-0 (the much discussed most dangerous scoreline) he was charing round like an idiot. 1 Quote

Still no excuse for missing it, but I think the timing was all wrong for him. He's actually made several good runs in the last couple of games where, if our players had seen him, he beats the offside trap and is through on goal. Then what? Quote

rob_of_the_rovers Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 If it's goals we're after there's a lad in the German 2nd division who's been banging them in recently, Semir something or other 5 Quote

Mattyblue Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 At least he looks like he enjoys being on a football pitch which is more than can be said than a lot of pros. 2 Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Elliott Bennett used to annoy me no end stinking the place out on the pitch every week then giving it the big 'un after the match. Like most others though, for some reason I can't help but like Gueye even when he's had a shocker. Being Gallagher's replacement probably helps. 3 Quote
Displaced Rover Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 (edited) Is that Tronstad’s problem then? Doesn’t smile enough or give it the big un? Edited December 16, 2024 by Displaced Rover 2 Quote

I think the difference is that Gueye is specifically proud to be HERE. Whereas Bennett was a journeyman. 1 Quote

Bennett seemed proud to be here so seems a strange theory. I think the key is time. Bennett had been stinking the place out over an extended period and offering little more than fistpumps. If Gueye continues to miss sitters and seldom score and the results obviously arent winning every game, then it might start to grate on people. 2 Quote

No, I mean Bennett would’ve been the same at any club as a journeyman. It’s not a criticism of him. Whereas Gueye seems to be proud of being here specifically. Grateful for the opportunity. Quote

I dont think he is specifically proud to be at Rovers necessarily so I dont get the difference. 1 Quote

roverblue Posted January 22 Posted January 22 His recent performances have been much improved, MoM last night easily. Looks to have some confidence back and aside from his aerial dominance he was very good with his feet and hold up play last night. If not for some great goalkeeping would have had a few goals. If we were to sign direct quick wingers that put crosses in we would start to get a lot more out of him. 6 Quote
