As an aside. These ads on this site are getting on my tits

The ones on the mobile version can be a real pain. They take you to a whole other page rather than being a popup with an option to close, and you have to backspace to get back to where you were. You then aren't taken to the point you were already at, but instead taken to the top of the thread. Those ones are really irritating. I can live with the desktop versions.

I know.  I try to click them off but I end up opening another tab which deletes one of my old pages

Yeh you've got to backspace instead. You know, the button or whatever it is on your browser that takes you back to your previous page.

I wrote Gueye off after PNE away.

Ohashi started and hardly got a kick as we humped balls up to him. We barely threatened PNE even though they were down to ten.

We were calling for Gueye to come on and I was glad when he did. Two pathetic scuffed shots later, plus a failure to hold up play or win any headers and I'd totally had enough of him.

We got worse when he came on and PNE finished the stronger. It was weird really, as I genuinely gave up on the lad there and then. I've never done that before. I think it was the realisation that we were going to struggle for goals all year.

I'm not embarrassed to say I misjudged him. He must have worked very hard this last three months. He's still a long way off what we ultimately need, but certainly heading in the right direction. Every credit to the lad.

I was really impressed with Big Mak's first few appearances for us. He was a handful and contrary to what was said afterwards, he showed good link up play, some nice passes and a decent touch. He looked a player.

That early momentum unfortunately got derailed after the sending off at Burnley, but it's possible that would have happened regardless. New lad trying to settle in, having never played in England before, and came in for a budget price. It was never likely to be smooth sailing. When his confidence was at its lowest he really, really struggled and I have to admit I had some doubts about what I'd seen at the beginning, especially during the games when he couldn't seem to even control the ball or have any idea how to shoot correctly.

Thankfully in the past month or so he's really kicked on. Fair play to the big man for persevering, his attitude is infectious and I think it's a huge boost to the lads to have a personality like Big Mak on the pitch. Fingers crossed he's past the initial barrier now and his confidence will continue to grow. He won't hit the heights of WBA every match, but if he can just do what he does best then that will help us in numerous ways, as he brings various things to the table that nobody else in the team has.

Not sure how he's a long way off what we ultimately need (unless you're talking about our PL aspirations). He's comfortably been our best player the last 6 weeks (albeit Travis is giving him a run for his money since his return) and has been the best CF on the pitch in 2025.

What a hero, apparently Mbappe been studying him and credits him for his hat trick last night.

Delighted he’s moved on from slightly comedic cult hero to genuine favourite with the fans, hope he carries on like that

He's just such a lovely likable bloke 🙂 I'm so happy he's getting a bit of success lately.  I was reading a bit about AK47 on the Rovers app, seems like him and Big Mak are getting a bit of an understanding; it was a nice move that lead to Dolans goal on Saturday!

Hopefully our other lovely fella Yuki will be back soon! ❤️

Without wanting to join the ITK club(!), one massive issue with Gueye is his confidence having grown & it's abundantly clear how settling in has helped that happen.

I used to work with the fella who has been hired by the club in the last few months to teach Gueye & Yuki to speak & understand English. He says both of them are lovely fellas & that their enthusiasm is genuine and that both their grins are infectious, but also that they are keen & quick learners. I sent him the video of Gueye's recent interview & he was well chuffed with how Gueye comes across in that.

We can only hope that the more he learns the language, & he and his family get settled in to England, the more improved & consistent performer in him will continue to emerge.
