He's our new keeper.

He says his coach told him he should be in goal because he's crazy.

I think you need a big personality to be a great keeper.

Hopefully he is Brad Friedel reincarnated.

I agree with the big personality thing in general (it’s literally the anti-football role), but Brad is one of the most softly-spoken ex-Rovers I’ve met. So defeats my own hypothesis 😂

The main thing I remember about him was yelling AWAY at corners.

The joys of sitting behind the goal.

Listening to some of the shouts at matches at all levels amuses me. Always wonder what they expect their teammates to do instead! 'SECONDS', 'Cheers mate, I was going to let him just take that half-volley'

Brad is still alive so he may have trouble being his reincarnation!

Hell if he's even half the keeper Brad was we'll be in a good way.

Yeh I know that I mean has anyone seen him in action ie for u21s etc

Has has not featured for the U21s.

Might have possibly played behind closed doors, but we (fans on a forum) wouldn't know how he had done if he had 😉

Yeh just curious. Hopefully will find out soon enough although pears has had a couple of good games lately. The cup will probably help see how he is

He did win the awards for save of the season and most clean sheets in the Hungarian top division.  But I have no idea what sort of level of competition that is

The difference between 1 point and 0 on Sunday, also a goal stopping save v Bristol with Carter i think smartly blocking the follow up.

Amazing what some serious competition waiting in the wings can do.

Toth will have to be very patient methinks.

I'd drop Pears in a heart beat. Unforgiveable that goal he sliced into his own net against Sheff Wed last season.  I'd have given him away at that point.  For me he's an average number 2.  Now, the new lad might be shit, which wouldn't be good as we'd be left with two shit keepers again. However, he might be a lot better than a keeper we know is fairly inconsistent and prone to horrendous errors.  We owe him nothing. Give the new lad a chance. No, I'm not a massive fan!

It would be awful man management to drop Pears at the moment. He's, dare I say it, in form. You don't drop any in form player. Rest them for a cup tie, sure, but not put someone else in their place for an important game.

It's a bitter pill to swallow i know but try a spoon full of honey that'll help.

The usual rule in football is never drop a keeper when he's playing well and keeping you in games regardless of what he might have done and especially when his number 2 has no experience of your league or country's football yet.

Imagine if we'd dropped Pears for Kaminski that season...

Aye...Pears wasn't actually in form anymore shortly after Kaminski was ready again. That drop should have happened.

Right now, Pears is in form, and whilst I'm no fan in general, you can't drop him whilst he's in form. I hope Eustace will have the balls to drop him as soon as he isn't though.

Not the first time Pears has had a purple patch. I wouldn't drop him whilst he's in form and we're getting results, but the moment it starts to slip, make the change. History shows it isn't going to just be a blip.

Turns out he played for u21s!

Any one get inside info on how he performed? The article doesn't give a lot of details. Wonder if he is a long or short passer etc

See for yourself:

Pears playing well enough not to be dropped.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I'm not a fan of Pears at all for context.

Pears isn't getting dropped anytime soon.

Perhaps the added competition of the new keeper has upped his game a bit.

Appreciate the comments guys but this thread isn't about Pears and if we think he should be dropped.

🙂

Back to the subject... Toth

Just looking for some inside info on Toths performance, style, ability etc.
