Blackburn VIP spying mission for Yuki

What's that? Does anyone know what Nicko is on about?

He might mean that Yuki has gone to sus-out any other good players in the Japanese squad ?

Possibly reference to Ryo Germain who was linked with Rovers, though don't think he's in the Japan squad. Not sure.

Incidentally, looking up the Ohashi deal, I see that the Home Office relaxed post-Brexit rules for player signings. There's a points-based work permit, after Brexit, for all players - including EU - based on club appearances and international games. Now, however, clubs can sign 4 players who don't meet the work permit requirements but meet a lower threshold, such as five appearances in a domestic senior competition or certain youth appearances.

It's a major change, it seems to me, but I've not heard it discussed. No politics in football, of course.

I think the 4 slot rule has been in for well over a year. There has been lots of discussion going back to when we signed the likes of Sigurdsson, Wahlstedt and Telalovic.

Seems like Japan are playing tomorrow, regardless of whether he features, I wonder if he is likely to be in contention to start at the weekend. Obviously it is good for him as a player, and good to see our players recognised in one way, but any trips across the world may cause a knock on effect in games after international breaks.

It's been discussed pretty much daily on the various transfer threads for over a year!

For what it's worth, neither does he most of the time.

Looks like he wasn't involved at all today.  Not included on the bench.  Hope it isn't an injury

Tbh, I doubt he has looked good in training. He hasn't been at it lately, think he needs a short rest. Flying across the world won't have helped, think this callup came at a bad time for him.

And to the detriment of Blackburn Rovers ! Bloody typical that he has been scoring aplenty at Hiroshima, top of the J League and top scorer and yet not called up, as soon as he heads to Brockhall and could do with the rest, they drag him back to the other side of the world.

Including a trip, Japan to Saudi and back.

At least he hasn't played. As much as I'm sure he would've liked to.

He wouldn't have been travelling cattle class.

Unsure what this is based on. He's likely starting for Rovers in part due to his attitude in training. That was what was highlighted by Eustace in the first interview referencing his call up. And he came in to Rovers with a bang so I'm not aware of any evidence that he shrinks in new situations

The fact he has been in poor form, looking more leggy than in his initial appearances, and the fact he can't trap a bag of cement.

Sure, I expect he trains hard regardless, but when you're worn down from playing a lot it doesn't matter how hard you work, you're simply not at 100% and your all round game suffers. His club boss is more likely to reward that work ethic shown in training, and to take into account his good club form before the last couple of matches or so. He hasn't done that for Japan so quality will be most important, and in all honesty, the Japanese national team would probably buttfuck Rovers. Not being 100% he's unlikely to have shone training with better players, work ethic or no.

I never said nor implied anything about shrinking in new situations. Yuki's attitude is beyond reproach.

I personally haven't noticed anything different in his play other than now he's starting and before he was an impact sub. Even as a sub he was known to make a few runs into cul de sacs and have the odd unusual decision making moment. The apparent differences in his performance could well be based on the differences in minutes he and his opponents have had. This could be why he appears leggy as far as I can see. His substitute appearances and his his 70+ minute appearances aren't particularly comparable
