Old Codger Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Has anyone else been picking up vibes from social media that Rangers are looking at TC again following his 'rehabilitation' at Rovers? I've seen some articles in the Scottish media claiming he is hoping to return like the prodigal to prove his credentials in front of the Ibrox hordes... Can't see it myself, but then again, with Rovers always looking to cash in on assets, and there being no smoke without fire... Quote

I can see Cantwell being sold in January, whether it is to Rangers or another top end Championship club.. Probably, why he was signed by Waggott.. 1 Quote
rigger Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 (edited) I doubt Cantwell would go back to Glasgow. His life away from Rangers was problematic, so I am lead to believe. Edited November 23, 2024 by rigger 2 Quote

Well, I guess we will find out soon enough, when the January sales come a calling down the soggy corridors of old fortress Ewood. If the powers that be do decide to cash in, I think there would be an exodus on a cataclysmic scale. S' probably just media speculation, and Rovers-bashing by journos neither in the know or clutching at straws for stories to catch punters' eyes, and since TC does stand head and shoulders, quality wise, above many at this level, it is only natural for them to conclude he will attract attention from (haha) 'bigger clubs'... Balls to em! Let's hang on, to what we've got, don't let go cos we've got a lot. Quote

It seems like Cantwell and his relationship with Rangers / Scottish football was a big story up north. Therefore these social media headlines (which have no substance when you read the articles) are just click bait. Probably has both old firm fan bases frothing and clicking. Quote

MarkBRFC Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 January will be too soon. I can see him being sold in the Summer though if he stays fit and has a good second half of the season. Quote
joey_big_nose Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 I think Rangers have big cash problems atm, think they sold Cantwell for a cut down fee just to get him off the books. Dont think they will have much to spend. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-money-17million-loss-uncovered-33996261.amp Quote

I think he will be gone in January. Venky way. Quote
Ricky Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 at todays AGM the Rangers FC board confirmed they received a total of £810,000 for the sales of Todd Cantwell, Connor Goldson, Sam Lammers, Scott Wright and Robby McCrorie just copied that from a FB post. I wonder what we actually paid for Cantwell based on that. Although I wonder if that is the total transfer fees received or just the first instalment. Looks like Rangers fans aren’t happy that they’ve let players leave for small amounts. Quote

When you think that Birmingham (who signed Wright) spent well into eight figures for one player, that is an appalling return for five players. Quote

philipl Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Cantwell is proving both hard working and a class act for Rovers. Great signing. 3 Quote

The more you watch him, the more you think “what’s the catch?” The catch is that he came to us to rehabilitate his terrible reputation after his time at Rangers. We benefit from his skills but at the same time stand to lose him as his value increases and attracts others. Presumably there's a release clause in his contract so we won't make much money out of it. 1 Quote
RoversClitheroe Posted January 18 Posted January 18 What does Cantwell bring? Really struggling to understand, no goal threat, loses ball deep in possession. Quote

They are in a world of financial problems. Quote
Backroom Tom Posted January 20 Backroom Posted January 20 An enigma, when in form he’s a level above anyone in this squad. When not he’s a liability at times. The dinked cross in one of his first games that lead to a goal was above and beyond what anyone else could pull off it’s just a shame that all too often when we are losing games he just doesn’t then up.
