Robbing a living is cantwell - eustace relies on him far to much - weak - lazy and poor end product his attitude stinks when he gets tackled - the likes of AYARI KHADRA ELLIOT DACK  offered so much more than cantwell as ever done - can see why clubs and fans of other clubs have launched him out.

Waggot will come out with we spent wage budget on cantwell you watch - id of rather of kept gallagher

Dack and Elliott certainly did, not so sure about the other 2...

I said on the Coventry thread Cantwells lack of any pace means him playing just behind Gueye is so sluggish and static as a pairing. I feel he was better when he had the mobility of Ohashi infront.

If Gueye is playing he needs someone around him who can run off him and past him. Szmodics would have been ideal.

Szmodics would have been ideal, or some actual wingers that are faster than me.

I was in full agreement until the bit about Gallagher!

Seeing all the same problems with the guy on here. We said all the same stuff about him at Rangers.

The guy is a legend in his own mind , it doesnt take long for fans to figure him out.

I don't know what to make of TC at the minute. Seems distant during the post-match celebrations, always seems to cut a lonely figure. I badly want it it work for him but he's really struggling in the final third, against Norwich that moment where he intercepted the ball and closed down on goal, spoilt for options but chose neither, summed his game up.

I think at first when he joined he was playing a lot of first time flicks and one touch passes to no one, almost as if he wasn't used to how little space and time you have in the modern Championship, and more likely how much slower his team mates are in comparison to his previous experiences. Recently he seems to be over compensating and going the other way, taking too many touches and losing it. As soon as you're not making impulsive, natural decisions your game has gone, Dolan similar. I still think he's got a telling contribution or two to come, fingers crossed, needs a few assists and a goal from open play to get going.

He's clearly out of form at the moment - that passage of play you highlighted was startling.

That said he's clearly working very hard - he was nipping the ball off Norwich players all day and linking up with teammates. He hit a few passes to Kargbo which I think is an outlet he's been crying out for.

He's nowhere near as bad as some are making out, but he's also not hit the heights I hoped he'd hit either. He needs a goal I think.

I don’t mind him making a stray pass or losing the ball in the final third if he’s putting a shift in.

I think earlier in the season he just moped when he lost it but at least now he’s running back and nicking the ball.

Definitely not hit the heights I was expecting for assists or goals though, his set piece delivery’s are poor as well.

I thought Cantwell was atrocious through most of the last 3 months but last few games he has been better. He was decent off the ball against Norwich working hard, and made a few good passes.

That said if he became unavailable (injured, suspended, sold) I dont really think that would be much of a concern. I think we would get as much out of Buckley, Weiman or Ohashi in the 10 role. Also obviously not really seen yet if Dennis could slot in there too.

So ultimately thats pretty depressing considering he was supposed to be our "proven quality" signing.

He just isn't that good. It's why we got him for a relative pittance with little competition. He's a player who at this point can be 'decent' at this level but that's about it. Yes he's slow but Dack wasn't exactly roadrunner and he was still a thousand times more useful than Cantwell.

He reminds me of Rothwell in some aspects. His technical ability is obviously far greater than his current output. We had the same frustrations with Rothwell and he played a bit-part role because of it, until eventually it clicked and he managed to find some consistency in his game. Unfortunately, we'd let his contract run down by this point!

As long as Cantwell isn't on huge wages, he's worth keeping as an impact sub (or regular starter when he's in form) because if it does click at some point, there's a very good footballer there.

I'd be surprised if Cantwell wasn't our highest earner!

Rothwell always looked like he had the ingredients though.. could take players out in the middle of the park running with the ball, decent pace, always looking forward, took shots on, got the ball into the box. It didn't quite come off for a long time but you could see it was there.

Cantwell I really struggle to see how, even if it comes together for him, he will impact games consistently. Just doesn't get in the right areas of the pitch.

Dack could get beyond the striker, Cantwell never seems to do that.
