I thought we didn't play Gueye's strengths. I felt we need to play our wide players wider and stretch their defence more. I would have played Dolan wide right and Hedges wide left second half. I think it would be been better.

We spent the entire first half pointlessly lumping it at Yuki and Dolan, then when we bring on a player who is actually suited to that style of play we give him nothing at all to feed off. Baffling.

Gueye starts over Yuki when possible for me.

Yuki has a finish on him but other than that he is ineffective. Gueye is a defenders nightmare but was never going to make an impact second half as Preston changed their shape.

Gueye will always make a bigger impact than Yuki starting a game…That’s not me saying Yuki isn’t good enough.

He isn't. He had two Premier League games towards the end of last season and screwed one of them up. He is being looked at how for another game but he is Select Group 2 who are predominantly Championship.

First half was abysmal. Zero control over the game and god knows why the tactic was to hit it long to Yuki. The long balls down the channels to Baker and Hedges who are both slow as fuck were inaccurate for 45 mins, too.

Credit to PNE for the second half, made us look the team with a man down, honestly.

Guaye starts for me. Gives us a platform to get into games. Yuki to come on when their defence has been softened up.

Baker is not a wide midfielder. Dolan isn't the answer, we all know that. Hedges is passable but shouldn't be starting.

The sooner the lad from Brighton and Cantwell are up to speed the better, our front 4 is massively unbalanced at the moment.

Having said that, good resilience, another point and unbeaten, so I'm relatively happy. Points dropped, though.

It's horses for courses for me. I thought Yuki did reasonably well in the first half and his mobility without the ball was causing them problems but he was feeding off scraps because our creativity was negligible. Bring Gueye on when they were down to ten was the right decision but for me he isn't quite ready yet but your point about the lack of service is valid. This season we have been really good with our goals to chances ratio and going forward I don't think we will be a team that creates many can due to a lack of creativity in the team. That could change if Cantwell can get fit and hit form.

Todd still looks off the pace. Seemed quite cumbersome. He needs to get up to speed, but yes, he’ll replace Dolan when fully fit.

Cantwell, although clearly not fit, was excellent at finding space so he could receive the ball. If he gets back to his best he’ll be an excellent player for us.

He’s got a habit of finding space, he found loads of it in Callum McGregors pocket in old form games

Any point away from home is a decent result in this league (aside from maybe Plymouth and Portsmouth).

But that's a missed opportunity against 10 men for an entire half. You should be winning from that position and we failed to even really trouble their keeper.

Maybe but like you said any away point is good and playing against 10 always different. Shame about Becks red but nevermind.

pears got yet another clean sheet and

we are still unbeaten.

Lets not forget where we were 7 games ago - nailed on for relegation to league 1.

Of the 16 players involved today, 8 are new. We're a work in progress and despite the disappointment of not being able to convert the draw to a win we're averaging 2 points a game and fourth in the league. I doubt I'm alone in thinking it would probably take 12 games to get to 12 points.

Hopefully lessons learnt and we get back to winning ways against QPR. I expect we'll see quite a few changes.

I was a bit surprised given we had an extra man that we didnt get Brittain on to give us a better delivery in from the right. Carter over lapped a couple of times, but think Brittain would have had more joy. Our balls into the box were atrocious.

Playing against 10 goes either way, they rally round and defend or get a pasting if you score soonish, obviously the former today. Toothless, but unbeaten

I don’t think the plan in the first half was to punt long balls to Ohashi, it seemed to me that was all that was left after Pears took ages, with several changes of mind, to release the ball whenever he had it.

Eustace got it wrong today.  Gueye has to start when available.  His subs were made too late.  Again we lack the pace to get behind teams. 

The Brighton lad didn't look like the answer to our pace issue either.  He also wanted to come inside every time. But its early days yet.

Beck had a decent game/Pears made some good saves. Carter/Trav/Tronstadt solid enough.

The rest were well off it.

On the plus side we didn't lose and I'd have taken a point beforehand.  One shot in the entire second half against 10 men is seriously shit though! 

Pears was our man of the match. made some terrific saves and no mistakes. Don't know what's come over him!

Terrible game between 2 teams you'd think were near the bottom of League 1. It was a slog fest.

Big mistake not to start with Gueye.

We created almost nothing all day. By contrast Pears had to be outstanding.

That was the disappointing thing  almost total lack of creativity. The Ref was rubbish as seems to be the case in this league virtually every week. Occasion too big for him.

This was what absolutely killed it for us. Every single time we won back possession any and all momentum was lost due to Pears dithering endlessly. He did make some good saves but as per usual his decision making was bad to terrible.

We should be leaving at least two up top and get the ball forward as quickly as possible.

We looked weak. How many of our players beyond the back line won their individual battles - any? Powder puff performance and technically lacking today. Very poor.

Is an attacking midfield trio of Baker, Dolan and Hedges good enough ? I don’t see any of them being starting players in a decent team. I’ll give Baker the benefit of the doubt for now but the other two blow cold more than they blow hot for me.
