What I really enjoyed about the second half was how we killed their spirit, and the game.

The silly mistake at the back aside, they knew once the first went in the game was over. We managed the game well and that's not something we've been able to say often.

That’s interesting. I alway thought that previously to this season most teams kept going against us even when they were losing because they thought we were vulnerable to conceding at the end of games. They saw we had a glass jaw so to speak, I think we are on the way to getting rid of that label at the moment.

I suppose the there are two main questions about tomorrow's team.

1) Who plays LB if Pickering isn't fit enough to play. Presume he would stick with Hedges or maybe Brittain if has recovered.

2) Does Cantwell start. ? My feeling is he will be on the bench again

Or maybe JRC, he’s played left back in emergencies.  I don’t think Cantwell will start.

I am sure that when everyone is fit, if Brittain starts at right back, then Pickering will be the left back. and when Beck starts at left back, Carter will start as right back

I thought this too, then realised that in our toughest game so far we played both Brittain and Beck!

Pickering and Batth were both unavailable for that game, which forced Eustace's hand, as Carter could not slide over to right back with Batth taking his place in the middle of defence

We could have played Mcfadzean to be fair if you absolutely had to that, obviously not ideal but was an option.

I personally don't think we'll never see Brittain and Beck starting in the same team again when everyone's fit, as mentioned we did absolutely fine against Burnley with them both playing, even before we went down to 10.

Sigurdsson is a poor man's Cantwell. Can't see much of a future here for the Icelandic.

Great game, looked controlled, and stayed controlled after we went 2-0 up and were looking to see the game out. Wonder what Eustace will do when Brittain returns, we make a lot fewer mistakes with him and JRC out of the team.

Yes and with three centre backs in the team we look less susceptible to goals from set pieces, even without Pape.

Agreed. For me the two new lads might not turn out to be world beaters but they've already surpassed Gallagher's contribution for the entirety of last season and demonstrated the extent to which he was stealing a living over the years.

A very good living at that.  I thought Big Mac was fantastic in his first few games and our game noticably dipped once he was taken off.  Now?  He looks a little lost out there hopefully it is just because he has lost his place.  I liked the look of him and fingers crossed him improves on those early performances, he could be key for us with some more polish.  Almost looked like he was trying too hard.  He's a beast play him from the start.

His big problem is he can't shoot! Mind-boggling that, I lost count over the weekend of the number of goals that came from

deflections in a crowded penalty area (including one of our own).

If you don't shoot there's no possible deflection!

But this area of his game can be worked on, the rest seems to be there. So I have high hopes of him.

His problem with shooting isn't so much that he chooses not to shoot, though, it's that when he does it's piss weak (which also reduces the chances of it deflecting in).

Finest example is his comical effort to score from near halfway against QPR. It was ambitious to begin with, but most professionals with the confidence to do that would at least get enough power on that for it to go out for a goal kick or land in the keeper's hands. Gueye's attempt slowed to a trickle well before then.

I also was surprised that his shot did not even reach the goal-line.
