I went down to Brunton Park to watch him last Tuesday….he was ok but it was basically Carlisle’s youth team! Duberry was sharp though.

Park is head of recruitment so I’d imagine he’s responsible, he’s no doubt got far better knowledge and contacts than GB ever had.

Gestede apparently knows the Belgium and France markets so maybe Gueye was his choice.

Damn Sky,only just over 13k home fans on...just hope we can maintain this run and folk back this side in increasing numbers.

Scoring just after half time was pivotal. Completely changed how the game would play out from that point.

A home win, another clean sheet and Cantwell showing glimpses of what he can do. Solid wave of momentum building behind us at the moment.

Good, solid win in the end, helped massively by QPR's sending off and the half time change of Cantwell for Pickering. It was the right call from JE and it changed the game in our favour. Prior to the sending off it had 0-0 written all over it.

Was important to win this with two away games next. We never do well at Coventry and Plymouth have now picked up a couple of home wins so going to their place won't be straight forward at all.

Thought Dolan had a better game, but Hedges was fairly poor. Ohashi struggled in the first half to get any kind of service and likewise, Gueye didn't really have too many moments to make a nuisance of himself. Felt very much like we were content to see it out at 2-0 by the time he came on.

On we go. I'm thoroughly enjoying Rovers so far this season with JE at the helm.

I thought perhaps Adam Owen would play a role as well.. But he isnt't named on Rovers' list of staff - despite being appointed in july..??

Cantwell was great today and he gives us what we have lacked since Wharton's departure - a midfielder happy to take the ball in tight areas. 

Good times at the minute but I do worry if we get an injury to Hyam or Carter as the strength in reserve at CH isn't good at all.

Has Eustace finally realised that Pickering isn't good enough and he's having a look at his other options, or was it just an opportunity to reintroduce JRC back into the squad after two bad performances? Nothing was coming down their right side, so there was no real reason to take Hedges off. 

JE has said post match that Pickering wasn't well over the last few days and was sick this morning but still wanted to play. He was always coming off at half time according to JE.

Good win and agree with all the comments on the positives on the field and off (imaginative recruitment on the usual peanuts). Mood is good all round.

So at the risk of being churlish/contradictory:-

Don’t buy this ‘we were rock solid at the back.’ They didn’t offer much. They could have scored very early on as Tyrone pointed out. Baath (or Hyam?) weak minded and dallying on the ball and should have been 2-1 which could well have made it a little more interesting. Why on earth they didn’t go long quickly when they got the turn-over is beyond me –they went nowhere trying to play out with only 10 men.

Trav was very good but so easily narked. Such a petulant foul for his booking because he had got a nudge off the ball a few seconds before. If I were playing him my players would be using the dark arts to get under his skin.

Ohashi was better than people are saying imo. One moment of pure class showed his ability/brain. He didn’t look interested near the byeline when chasing a ball then suddenly accelerated, cleverly knicking the ball off the defender and drawing the foul and yellow card. Can’t resist a player who bows to the pitch when he goes off.

I thought Gueye was a good Gally replacement in first few games. Not so sure now. Early days though and love his attitude.

We were pedestrian with that initial team (so were they) and it looked like it could be a 0-0. Would have been nice for Yuki to get that goal after a sublime through ball from Dolan. Trying to get it on his right foot and defender did well. JE seems to like that –solid, maybe somewhat dour early on (hence Hedges).  Works great if you then get a goal on the break. Tronstat and Trav give obvious solidity but neither score enough (yes I know today) and are no Cantwell/Wharton for creativity. Though Weimenn was a little disappointing today.

The sending off effectively ended their ambition and we had the freedom to stroke it around at will. We did it much better than against PNE who certainly offered a lot more with 10 than QPR did today.

Cantwell is a breath of fresh air for us but he did come on against 10 men and had the freedom and time to do his (creative) stuff at will. Let’s see against 11 in tighter situations.

4,000 folk buying a ticket at £25-£30 for a half 12 Sky game? Sounds pretty good to me, but generally, as always … ‘want more crowds, sell more season…’

They certainly aren’t up to a 46 game season but as cover they are perfectly adequate. Pickering can also play CH.
