Close this thread if its pointless but didn't know where to put this question.

I don't know how popular this will be, but in my opinion from what I have seen of this lad, is hes good enough to be starting. Every time I have seen him play he can defend and attack. Lacks a bit with his final ball, but his pace and being able to get up and down is brilliant. In my opinion hes better than Britain. We are not the quickest team, and his ability to get up and down and his pace is great. He looks like he can defend to. Hes 19! great age to be starting to play. Think he needs pushing in, and keeping carter, bath and Hyam as Cbs. And btw I think Carters done fine covering at RB. But hes basically put rb for now so he can get up the pitch and head it from Pears kicking when we play Yuki up there.

Im not Britains biggest fan, and I think its time this lad gets a chance over him. I get the feeling Eustace doesn't really like youth! Hes got to start somewhere.

Aye I really like Duru.

It's such a shame we put in that pitiful performance against Blackpool as I think he would be starting league cup games against lower league teams.

I'd have him as an attacking substitution at the moment - a way to change things if we're chasing a game. Not sure if he's quite ready for league starts.

I rate him highly and against the real threat Plymouth have from their pacy wide players I think he would be our best option tomorrow at right back. It's nonsensical to me to play out best centre back out of position when we have good, natural right backs on the bench.

I'm sure that was one of the few negatives that Brum fans said about Eustace in his time there.

He looked good in the U21s against Carlisle the other week ( although they weren't really a proper test).

Thought he linked up very well with Cozier-Duberry - I wouldn't mind seeing them as a pairing.

I thought against Blackpool in his only senior game (bar a couple of minutes at turf moor) he wasnt really tested defensively, he showed real athleticism and pace but technically struggled and his final ball was lacking.

Not doubting he has something about him but we have a player who is proven as a very effective Championship right back sat on the bench collecting dust.

As a right-back, Duru is ahead of JRC, in my opinion.

The difficulty is, you are comparing Championship football with playing against kids.

No I am comparing the ability to play in a certain position, between two players.

That would be a real problem at a club with an excellent academy and not much wriggle room in the budget for experienced players.

It would appear that Birmingham fans may have selective memories

"James, 18, has earned a full international cap for Wales and played 31 times in the league with Hall, 18, making 30 Championship appearances. Bellingham, 17 - the young brother of England's former Blues man Jude - has played on 20 occasions."

That story is from the end of his first season at Birmingham.  He also had Tahith Chong in the side at that time.  They then had a change of ownership, sold Chong & Jobe Bellingham, and got a windfall from Jude Bellingham's transfer to Real Madrid  Even then he brought in (and played) younger players like Stansfield, Laird, Buchanan, Sanderson and Drameh

Selecting the bench isn't straightforward at the moment with quite a lot of players to choose from but I think Duru should, at least, be there, fitness permitting. However, a valid concern is his lack of height  - to play him with Pickering on the other side is, perhaps, a major vulnerability. That said, Carter & Weimann against a decent winger is probably an even bigger vulnerability. Comes down to poor squad investment.
