I have to presume his numbers would be calculated at the time we applied. We know we like leaving the door open for Mr Cockup, and this would leave us with no free slots unless we shunt someone out. I feel confident, if that's the right word, that the club didn't get this permit sorted in the summer. Purely because it seems like the sort of thing that would have been announced or at least told to the LT. So hopefully the permit is assessed from the prior season not the prior 12 months, and of course, hopefully someone is competent enough to get it done. The period (re playing enough games/minutes) is the 12 months from when he was first granted his work permit. Therefore, as I understand it, he still qualifies (I’m not holding my breath on the club knowing this though!!) Edited October 30, 2024 by wilsdenrover Quote
roversfan99 Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 It still feels like all of the areas we particularly need to strengthen were areas that we needed in the summer. The window was lauded as a success but I think perhaps it wasnt half as successful as we thought it may have been at the time. The main issue was the lack of money so it falls on the owners but still I am not sure that the business we did do was as good as it maybe could have been. I know we are 6th in the table but again that seems to be predominantly built on players we already had, including Travis coming back. Beck and Cantwell are certainly good signings who have improved us but otherwise we still are short in a number of areas. We needed to overhaul the striker position and have signed a non scoring "striker" for whom a football seems an unknown item to him and a useful backup. We needed a keeper and just signed a player to warm the bench and we needed pace and didnt get any. One centre back injury leaves us with 2 options with a combined age in the 70s and Baker seems to be 5th choice in his natural position. I cant see us having any real money to spend. Venkys have swallowed up the considerable income and have zero interest in the club. 6 Quote

simongarnerisgod Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 not expecting any outgoings in january, there is no one left to sell of any value🙂,carter the last asset worth anything and he`s out until the middle of january Quote
roversfan99 Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 I dont even think Carter would raise much if he was fit. Decent player on his day but not well beyond the point of a Premier League side taking him as a prospect and after a shaky season last season, not close to being a player that a lower Premier League side would take as a more immediate option. 1 Quote

I agree but he could be sold if someone makes an offer Luton for instance £1m? It's a wage off the outgoings.. Last season Buckley went out on loan to save a wage... London blue Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 The window will be a non event. A loan, a freebie and an outgoing would be my guess. Now that the new signing sheen has faded from our summer recruits it's clear to see what spending close to £0 gets you. 2 Quote

Torgeir Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 Venky's court case is this month; on November 13 I believe. Will we finally get it over and done with? A positive outcome might release a bit of funds in January. Would think the deal for that Fulham lad will be revisited too. Quote

Ossydave Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Rumours that Sigurdsson refused to play for the U21s last game so it seems his time here is up. Pathetic attitude, with 6 months left on his contract in Jan I doubt we'll get much of a fee though, and that will probably be our budget, minus a cut for the twats in Pune. 1 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 He will just sign a pre contract somewhere at some non descript club and see out the rest of the season here doing nothing. Quote

These are the sorts of people we cheer and look up to, week in, week out. I know they aren’t all the same, but no wonder we are in a mess. Quote
