A normal tea cake doesn’t contain currants, but a currant tea cake does.

Simple enough.

Which means it's very confused unlike a Barm which knows its identity.

interesting post match discussion on Radio Lancs between Mark Atkins and Glen Little about the way that Rovers, Burnley and PNE are all looking for a number 9 striker and all are struggling to find this type of striker who is goalscorer.

Its going to hard in January to find a striker who can get us 10 goals between January to May

I'd be tapping Villa up all the way for the young lad on loan at Stockport. Massive future in the game.  Him, along with a centre half, winger, centre half (of quality)  and I think we've got a chance...

sounds great, the c****s that run and own the club will no doubt disagree though

Struggling to see how we improve this 11 AT THE MOMENT. With Gueye finding his feet (he's so difficult to play against) and ACD showing us the directness and pace we've been lacking... It's hard to see how anyone coming in displaces anyone in the today's 11, an 11 that didn't have Cantwell in it aswell.

We don't have much CB cover, so James Hill as we've all said would do nicely but as for a forward... I just don't see who you can get in January that can come in for a sensible fee but one that I've mentioned on here before that might be doable... Oli Mcburnie.

Aasgard just seems another attacking mid which we've already got plenty.

Perhaps when/if the results turn we may see some glaring weaknesses in the team but right now there simply isn't many besides some depth.

We're 5th in the championship..  I still think we lack a centre half- as you pointed out. One injury away from a disaster there..   Lack any genuine pace out wide. But, perhaps most concerning is we lack a goal scorer.

I like to work off worst case scenarios: Pears has a dip.  Hyam or Batth injured/suspended.  Strikers don't click. Hedges picks up and injury and Dolan gets himself a move lined up..

Ideally I'd account for all that. Don't just look for back-up. Look to improve each of those positions. That's what would push us on. Reality is we're unlikely to even bring in adequate back-up..

Centre half, a khadra type, a goal scorer (Villa lad at Stockport) and a rapid winger..

He’s at Las Palmas at the moment. I can’t see him swapping that for Ewood Park.

There's something about Oli Mcburnie that would suit us down to the ground IMO. An absolute bastard to play against like most of our team. A simple, effective, yet unfashionable player... Again... Like most of our team.

That's mad talk. We can always improve this team

Gestede and team gave Eustace an unlikely platform of players to form the current squad capable of two good runs and one bad run.

And delivered the cash in hand for Swag.

The timing of the departure of head of recruitment rings all kinds of alarm bells for January.

There is no forecasting what will happen beyond observing Eustace isn't a toys out of the pram sort of guy (remember the chorus of "he's just a yes man" on here ?)

I think the Eustace comments about needing signings is slightly more likely to be because he is involved in the process of new signings being lined up than him politicking to try to force a signing or two.

I understand your point here Neal, But I think another centre back signing is a must during the window. We need a left sided attacking player with pace and another striker given Yuki Ohashi will need a break after playing 12 months of football straight.

Finding a quality striker signing is going to be tough given our finances and most the Championship clubs are looking for at.

Maybe have some faith in Eustace and understand where the players were mentality and confidence wise.

Eustace is a very good man manager and Pears was full of praise for yesterday of him on ITV highlight show.

The fans have took to Eustace alot and you could see that yesterday post match when Eustace came to the BBE and the fans shown him their appreciation for what he has done this season and the team work ethic and desire to play for the short, Eustace and the fans. Also noticed that Eustace and Travis have a good relationship and they are in-lined

If Rudy has contacts in Belgium then he should be on the blower to Sint-Truidense.

Adriano Bertaccini looks a talent, caught my eye a few times now, 10 goals so far this season.

There'd be a fee involved though so....

An incisive striker with pace would be nice, but we all know what'll happen. Maybe a desperate loan or two from the Premier League, and possibly Cantwell being sold. We can't be promoted as that'll bring more scrutiny to the Rao family.

Why do you feel we are in danger of losing Cantwell in January?

He was available in the summer for a pittance of a transfer £500k yet he ended up here .

Nobody will be coming in and bidding enough money for him in January

He’s doing well but he’s not tearing the league up. I think he’ll stay until the summer at least.

It isnt really strange that people were critical when he couldnt buy a win and now are praising him when he has won 6 on the trot and us 5th in league.

Perhaps not but but it's also important to acknowledge that we were something of a basket case when he took over. I was a JDT fan, but if he'd stayed I'm convinced we'd now be in League 1.

He might not not have been able to 'buy a win' but he kept us up, and that was all that mattered.

Crazy to think we can’t improve yesterday’s team. Our striker completely missed the ball from 6 yards out 🥹

Rubbish, look at the stats, 2 assists in the game. He saw Beck unmarked and laid it on a plate. Well thats the sale platter Waggot will use as an extra £500, 000 is added to his sales price. 😀
