On Eustace - I felt like he didn't read the room on his appointment but will hold my hands up and say that he is a far better manager and coach than I thought. Also seems to have found a way to have good morale within the club whilst now being able to communicate to fans that he is aware of the bigger issue (without making it a distraction)

On January: my biggest fear is that we will lose Beck back to Liverpool and maybe even accept an offer for one of our better players (Trav, Tron or Cantwell).

I think Siggy is more or less gone in January, and possibly Beck, which is out of our control, then the obvious loan (maybe Leonard)

With all the money brought in previously, I think the club can hold out till summer. Sadly I think it's a given that Cantwell will sold along with maybe Carter.

I think the opportunity for team to get Travis on the cheap has been and gone. They won't want to pay our asking price for him now.

Cantwell hasn't done enough yet to warrant a move - not unless he's pushing for a way out.

Hope you are right but we live in interesting times - any opportunity to bring in a fee and cut costs will surely be looked at by those entrusted with making sure we keep paying our bills.

As for Travis/Tron: I think any team seriously looking at promotion might consider them a worthwhile option (even at a few million) to see out the season in case of injuries.

Irony alert would be if we received an offer for Pears...

Didn’t you turn on Mowbray when he left too?

Nope, I turned on Mowbray when we lost 2 nil to Barnsley away during the Covid shut out season when no fans were allowed inside stadium.

I also slammed Mowbray for switching tactics early enough from 3-4-3 with false 9 to 4-2-3-1 in the last few weeks of the season which would have get us top 6 and playoff place plus his misused of Ryan Giles when he signed him on loan

if past january sabotage is anything to go by,it won`t be a happy month,im`d expecting a mass sell off tbh,the last thing our owners want is  getting into the premier league and this year the gate for the top flight is wide open

considering we hav`nt even got a recruitment team at the moment, all indications state we`ll be selling rather than buying

How many times have we not fixed it because it wasn't broke only for it to break not long after when we couldn't fix it ?

It's the most empty phrase in football.

Strengthening is strengthening and it will be badly needed in a month or two guaranteed.

Brereton isn't even getting on the bench for Southampton at the moment, I wonder if he'd fancy coming back on loan?

Would Brereton bring to the Rovers what is required, I don't think so. Not that we could afford him.

I wouldn't want him anyway. Played one good season and left robbing us of a transfer fee. £7M down the drain.

He'll feature in the Championship for a while and then fade away a rich man.

Brereton is a no from me he's too lazy for this team i don't want to see him hiding out of the wing again every game.

I'd put him up top over Guaye and Yuki, agreed he's not the kind of wide player Eustace wants.

He won’t buy into the Eustace team ethic. I wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole.

Brereton also struggled to pass the ball.

Could score goals though.

I'm not saying it's a move I'd be happy with but I could definitely see it being a move that suits all parties... Surely Sheff United would want him back though? Seemed to do well for them, 6 goals in 14 games. Have much deeper pockets than us.

Giles was such an idiotic transfer, bringing in the best crosser in the division when we were playing Buckley as a false 9. Completely meaningless.

I still believe louie barry should be our top target. He's the kind of player that can produce a moment of quality.  Obviously other clubs will be in for him but a move to rovers might tempt him

Depends what Villa are looking for. If its the biggest loan fee, then a club like Boro will take him. But, if it's where would be best for his development, I think we could make a strong case as he'd definitely get plenty of minutes here.

Brereton was never lazy. He lacked quality for years but he always worked hard, did his defensive duty and clearly cared. Don’t get me wrong - proper poor move for him to run his contract down after the amount of time we gave him but he would be a massive improvement on what we have.

We will never get him though - stinks of a return to Sheffield United.
