January Transfer window

So why not do the honourable thing and resign if you're Waggot? He's clearly having zero positive effect on the club, just draining £300k a year out of the coffers.

You would have to ask him. But basically, the clubs directors are paid to run the club and set the direction within agreed parameters. Then they present each decision to Suhail, who is the only one with a direct line into Venkys and basically does his Roman Emperor impression, whilst everyone awaits a thumbs up or down.

We've brought in over 30million in transfer fees, we should absolutely be spending money.

Nobody is expecting the club to do that, that's why everyone is so fucking pissed off about the whole situation.

Venkys just need to fuck off right now.

Agreed.

We have six games in twenty days before February five of which are league games. Given the squad is stretched and we have kids on the bench we need players in quickly. I couldn't care less if other clubs aren't doing any business or that the market is slow, I'm only interested in what we do. Do I expect it to happen? No I don't and the likelihood is that our hopes will fizzle out and the season will be over by March.

Another half season of promise is destined to fail again.

The Venky madness, ‘Let’s have the same January window but expect a different outcome’.

One good thing that's come from the defeat to the low IQ lot down the road is that attention has now started to shift back to venkys and their destruction of this once great club.

The general consensus seems to be shifting back to people wanting rid of them.

Hopefully a few more will wake up after yet another January transfer window without any quality.

The issue (amongst many others) comes when they operate within the agreed parameters BUT still have to wait for the thumbs up/down.

Utility man Jeffrey Schlupp could be on his way to Blackburn Rovers on loan ahead of a full-time exit.

Schlupp, 32, fits the profile Rovers boss John Eustace wants for his squad.

The former Leicester City left-winger is not in the Palace starting line-up but has been used off the bench by Glasner.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and may look for some security.

Blackburn are also checking a move for free agent Ryan Kent in the same position but Schlupp can play left-back as well, making him doubly attractive.

Weirdly this story isn’t from Alan Nixon. A random account on Twitter posted it. Nixon has copied it word for word.
Other alternative is the other story is Nixons too. Odd

What if they want to send him somewhere else ? Somewhere that he might get a chance at playing more attacking football.

He's currently flying in a Championship team pushing for promotion.

Unless a PL team (or equivalent, financially at least) have indicated they want to buy him then there's no point in recalling him.

Plymouth not scoring enough goals and went and spent £1.5m on a striker as early as they could in the window, didn’t even use the excuse of waiting on the new manager, just went and got it done.

According to our resident transfer expert he wouldn’t have improved our squad though. Scored 5 goals in the europa this season against top flight teams, but wouldn’t improve our squad…. You couldn’t write it!

Schlupp only comes if a contract is in place for him at the end of the loan. That’s event mentioned on the Nixon post. He’ll be looking for a final payday and I’d be avoiding it. Not against the Sam Surridge suggestion from Chaddy. I’m sure there are others out there as well but we do need to act quickly as we could waste 5 league games before the window closes otherwise. Those 5 games are all against teams that we should be beating and will define our season. We can’t afford to stumble through those matches and pick up draws and defeats.

We really need to be active now and getting some real quality in,

I quite like the suggestion of Kent but there are questions about his attitude. He’s a better age than Sclupp and would potentially be a better investment but he’s also been out of the game for a while

Is Kent quick? Never really watched him, would be happy with Schlupp though.

Did kent and Cantwell play together?

I’d be happy with either. Schlupp still regularly plays premier league games, and some Palace fans are calling for him to start in front of Eze. I’d be amazed if he ended up here.

So loans and free agents again.

Glad to see that £40m in transfer profits isn't going to waste.

I don't know. Eustace spoke about he suggested some names to Gestede, so if Schlupp and Kent are his targets would you not sign them?

Why would anyone do that? Plus he will say his appointment of Eustace is having massive positive affect on the club..

We’ve generated 45M in the last 18 months from transfer fees.

We have near 25M ‘space in FFP’.

We have a great manager and a squad that have put us in a great position, but now need sizeable support to get them over the line.

Venkys and Steve Waggott will NOT invest in genuine difference makers. They never do. History shows that. It happens every single year.

Linked with top talent, the fans lap it up, cheap alternative is delivered.

Wharton's money has gone in my opinion. I hope we can buy a quality striker that will push us over the line. We all do

He is playing regular football for playoffs chasing team. Developing and learning his trade

What tricks? Josh, you intimating somehow that Rovers should / could spend millions based on revenue from sales is the most deluded narrative on here.

What's the point of revenue from sales then? Is it to keep the Club afloat?

If so it won't last long will it?. We've already run out of generating big money that way---there's simply no-one left to sell? What next?

If the billionaire owners aren't willing to cough up they basically own a corpse

If the Wharton money was used to pay the running costs whilst Venkys couldn’t invest, now they can invest, they can put it back in.

Why? It's clear FFP problem for 3 year cycle but we should invest in buying a quality striker this window. I talking spending £3m plus that striker.

Why is it deluded? They have no impediments stopping them spending and we are a mile away from FFP.

They don’t want to spend, not that they can’t.

That’s obvious. The recent transfer windfall has just allowed them to ruin the club for another year without having to put any of their money in.

Just now, K-Hod said:

Sorry, but why shouldn’t they be spending that money? It’s how pretty much every other club operates. Sell players, then use the proceeds to replace them.

Why not split how we used that money.

For example purposes only,

So using 25m figure, why not investing in the Academy structure further, then use some for signings this window like Surridge, Poku, then add Schlupp for example then centre back on loan. That's would example 7-8m cost

Then use another 7m in the summer then 3m in the January 2026

Would that be acceptable?
