Rover1984 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Sickening coming across the O Brien story. In similar position now and not feeling very confident at all. Quote
Ossydave Posted January 6 Posted January 6 It's been known O'brien is coming back for a while, is Nixon claiming its his exclusive? 🤣 I don't think he'll be too happy either, sounds like he was enjoying life in LA, surprisingly. Quote

Neal Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I'd love O'Brien still... Think he'd come if he spoke to the manager. Quote

Trav is out for four more weeks and we won't sign anyone before deadline day anyway, so I would prioritise other positions. We need pace. Schlupp is a good option on loan. Quote
BRFC4EVA Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Another day goes by and no signings. Get on with it you Muppets. Spend some f**cking money to cheap wankers. 2 Quote
Eddie Posted January 6 Posted January 6 The other downside to not signing players early in the window is that the FA Cup weekend gives you the opportunity to actually have the player training and getting up to speed before you might need them for a league match. Fingers crossed we will have a new signing by the Preston match... 1 Quote

I like Eustace but I'm not sure he'd have that effect on me. Very happy (and confused) to be proved wrong. Edited January 6 by Devon Rover 3 Quote

I thought that, but having seen him winding up the Leeds fans & showing old wonky face who's boss, i think we might see an entirely different side of him in interviews compared to the real JE. Quote

He's got a temper on him. I'm not sure that makes him an inspiring leader of men though. But the way he has got the team playing together and the way they're drilled is better evidence he might be a decent motivator. 1 Quote
TheRevAshton Posted January 6 Posted January 6 There’s been a couple of claims on X that we’re closing in on Ryan Kent. Not from any official reporters or outlets so it’s probably complete bollocks, but perhaps worth a mention on here! 1 Quote
Ghost7 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) As posted a few pages back, if the owners insist on spending an average of £1.1m per window... it's going to be another long one as always... We need at least 3 players, ideally more. You're searching for permanent players around the £500k mark or less. Not many of those around today that have the required quality. People criticise Hedges but he was signed for circa £200k. He's been better than expected for a £200k player and was identified as a signing when the season expectations were much lower. We continued with the signing even though we were in 2nd and completed it on January 30th. He was never going to get us promotion that year. James Brown was another addition, another that didn't correlate at all to our league position. There was no strategy and no real interest in promotion. No Indian government restrictions were in place to my knowledge at that time. This is where we are at under Venky's ownership. They are still not in touch with football and by the evidence still not interested in signing the required quality. Edited January 6 by Ghost7 7 Quote
ItsRoverZ Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Hull City bring in matt crooks and are close to signing/loaning striker/s the old City one that players for Leicester and Dennis. Meanwhile we chilling.. 1 Quote

Bob Belcher Posted January 7 Posted January 7 When it comes to this ownership, I literally do not have any good expectations. We are overachieving this season let's be honest. However, that does not mean we should not take advantage of it while we can. Clearly need a couple more pieces to strengthen or we will falter and finish in mid-table or worse. No relegation fears mind which I guess is somewhat positive haha. But we are in a good spot to really make a run at the playoffs and when you get there, anything can happen. Huddersfield *cough* getting promoted via penalties. We shall see I suppose. Quote

I am not sure we will bring any in,without moving a couple on, relegation is very very unlikely and that's Is Waggott is bothered about.. Quote

He's got these players sweating blood for the shirt - he's clearly a very good motivator. If we're interested in Kent (I'd be worried about what type of contract he wants more than anything) and we can get him in a room with Eustace I think we have a pretty good chance of signing him.
