That was last season.

Hasn't played a competitive game for over 16 months now, so no idea as he's not injured as he's played a couple of times in the PL2.

He had a good season, had a real knack of winning the ball high up the pitch and feeding the likes of Rothwell, Diaz, Dolan, Khadra. One or two games too where he was gliding past people for fun.

Since the end of that season, barring a 5/6 game run under JDT in Feb/March 23 where he was looking good again before he picked up his season ending injury he just hasn't got going again.

I still think that’s his best position.

Very odd.

One to avoid I'd say as with Kent who has a similar sort of lack of game time.

Of course if we can pick up someone who's fallen completely of the radar using this sort of Moneyball approach all well and good but it's a huge gamble.

Apparently his doctors have advised he's not allowed to head the ball anymore after his hair transplant but he's adamant he will only play in defence which has obviously limited his opportunities for playing time

No doubt we are still incredibly following the one out one in cheap policy.

Likely result - missing out on players as we wait to sell ours, and the squad doesn't gain the required depth by the end of the window.

He's cut out for the Swedish league because it's a level or three below the Championship. He has shown glimpses here, but too many injuries and has struggled to nail down a spot here. Good finisher but that's about it.

In the box I'd have him, probably, over any player we have. But anything else, he's very very poor.

Oh absolutely.

Unlike any of our incoming signings, they'd have his departure wrapped up and finalised in less than an hour.

Always pisses me off that - we're the best Club on the planet at selling players, then we suddenly become an absolute circus when it comes to incoming signings.

Not sure he is on that much here, he was apparently on that amount at Rangers but would imagine he would be on circa £20K/week here.  He wanted out and to rehabilitate his career

Sigurdsson on £18K ish per week sounds about right, he had a decent reputation and moved to Rovers on a free (which normally means the lack of a fee benefits the player in either signing on fee or wages)

I said the other week that if we were to take their word for it and believe that there is already money available to strengthen (there bloody well should be even if you ignore huge sales - see increased media deals, bumper gates, no FFP restrictions) then we should not be relying or waiting on a departure such as Sigurdsson before making a move.

Sigurdsson's wage should be divided by 3 or 4 and added to the wages of Travis, Tronstadt, Carter and maybe another to ensure they commit to long term contract extensions.

It should not be funding 2-3 short term loans or temporary squad fixes.
