Injuries to Tronstad & Brittain, could potentially see the need for JRC at right back and a midfield pairing of Buckley and Garrett.

An 'average' Baker stands head and shoulders above those two.

Not particularly a Buckley fan either, but I don't think there's anything that Baker did when he played that Buckley ( or JRC can't )

Baker was average but he was sold enough. The type of squad player that is useful as opposed to last season when we had Garrett and Buckley in reserve when Travis and Wharton left.

Buckley is a liability. Doesnt work hard, poor attitude, petulant and has far less footballing ability than certainly he thinks he does and even still some fans think. Takes far too long on the ball.

No fear, we recalled garrett 😬 operation down the league we go.

Looks highly likely we recalled Garrett, knowing that Stoke were going to recall Baker.

He put in a shift, drove forward occasionally with confidence, successfully completed simple passes, had a couple of powerful and accurate shots, did not get sent off/booked regularly for petulance. I'd prefer Baker to Buckley in my team.

You just described an incredibly replaceable footballer.

Pretty sure if you are paying a fee you are within rights to negotiate a no recall option to protect yourself. No fee and no one would ever agree to that. Which will be the structure of nearly all our loan ins.

OK thanks.

I assumed all loans entailed some sort of fee these days otherwise there's not really that much incentive for the parent Club.

Perhaps the fee and recall options are totally at the discretion of the 2 Clubs.

Garrett was recalled because he’s not wanted by the new manager there.

Garrett was getting recalled regardless of Baker. Barely played a minute for Bristol Rovers in last few months and not making the squad. But every chance we end up in same position as last season now with a weaker squad after the January transfer window than before it.

Baker didn't pull up any trees, but he was a decent enough squad option and had a goal in him too.

Now need at least 4 in: CB/LB cover, CM cover, ST, LW at a minimum.

Baker is average. He’s very replaceable. Whether we do that or not, is another question.

Interesting that the Stoke fans don’t rate Moran either. Absolute nothing of a footballer.

The chances were always high of a recall here given the similarity between the two teams. I always find these kind of moves odd, a bit like Buckley to Wednesday. Anyway it shouldn't be an issue, we sold a central midfielder for £20m last year and haven't spent a penny of it yet .........

I did. Still better than what Buckley has offered over a number of recent years, in my opinion.

Matty longstaff, Billy Mitchell, John Swift all have 6months left and better than Baker

And the only one of those I'd expect Venkys to bring in is Billy Mitchell.
The one from Eastenders.

Swift will be wanting about £30K/week though, especially when no transfer fee is involved.

Has Longstaff improved since struggling to get into the Colchester team a year or so ago?

Not that I think Baker is anything more than ok to be honest

I think we’ll just sign whichever bog standard Championship midfielder is currently out of favour until the end of the season to replace him, and that would replace him.

No problem.

John Fleck has apparently successfully completed 1 game for Chesterfield in the EFL trophy this season so I'm sure he'll be available come deadline day!

Baker has probably been recalled due to Stoke bringing in a new manager. Robins probably wants to run the rule over him.

It's a shame in terms of losing a body to cover for Travis, but he wasn't pulling up any trees either. Baker is just a very mid table standard Championship midfielder, but the goal against Cardiff was appreciated.

In some ways I'm ok with Garrett sticking with the first team squad as cover, but we definitely do need someone else of first team quality to come in now.

This window is final straw now, if the correct players ain’t brought in we really are hopeless and not worth paying into from a fans perspective anymore just for the same shit again. Boycotts setting record low attendances would have to be considered
