Popular Post Emerald Isle Rover Posted January 8 Popular Post Posted January 8 I can’t believe I’m reading fans say he’s no big loss it’s a massive loss in terms of injuries etc which has a domino effect on other players playing there and then the need for more cover it’s a big loss at present don’t fool yourselves into thinking ah well - we are literally threadbare at the moment 10 Quote

Doesnt play the same position. 75 Premier League games in the same position https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jeffrey-schlupp/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/157506/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id= I would argue Schlupp is better on the left of a midfield 3 than in a 2 man midfield though (if he were to be used in central midfield rather than wide) Edited January 8 by KentExile 2 Quote

I guess its the club’s fault that we currently have six senior players unavailable through injury or a loan player is recalled. Eustace has stated he needs players so let’s see what transpires before we commit harakiri! 3 Quote
FE123 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 “We have some money to spend” Offload 2 players earning circa 15-20k a week (Baker and Siggy) Pay a million in 10 instalments for a player on 5-10 k per week, dress up a significant outlay and move on 😂 Quote
TheRevAshton Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Noticed the Lancashire Telegraph haven't even reported on Baker's departure yet, there should've been something ready to publish immediately upon it being announced. Bloody useless they are! Quote
joey_big_nose Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Personally I couldn't really see that much difference between Baker and Buckley... So don't think Baker going is an major impact quality wise, but we are more vulnerable to injury. If money is tight I would be tempted to use the wages to top up the budget for a striker as that is what we really really need. A bit risky if we get another centre mid injury, but think it's more risky not to boost our striker options. 2 Quote
Popular Post Ghost7 Posted January 8 Popular Post Posted January 8 Not just the fans, it must be so demoralising for the players too to get within touching distance of some success and then realise no one is taking it seriously year after year.... 14 Quote

RevidgeBlue Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) The news has only broken publicly just now but I presume the Club will have known about it for a while, I'd assume Stoke did us the courtesy of tipping us off in advance, maybe had to give us 28 days prior notice as per regulations. So we can expect the blue touch paper to be lit any time now then............. Edited January 8 by RevidgeBlue Quote
Backroom Popular Post Tom Posted January 8 Backroom Popular Post Posted January 8 Baker is far better than Buckley who I’d rather never played for us again. Disaster in that we are clearly struggling to get anyone in so efforts going on one more is going to make things worse. 12 Quote

Buckley is much worse than Baker, proven by Eustace picking him ahead of JB in every single fixture that a Travis/Tronstad replacement has been necessary. For me he’s gone backwards since the loan to Sheffield Wednesday and previous long term knee injury. Too slow on the ball and doesn’t see the bigger picture straight away leading to either being dispossessed or our attacks gaining any traction. I thought he was very poor off the bench v Dingles, not what you’d expect of a homegrown player. Edited January 8 by DuffsLeftPeg 2 Quote
MB Rover Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) No matter what noise comes from the club, we’re clearly still operating on the one in/one out basis. No signings made yet, but Baker, Sigurdsson and Dolan all being linked with/completing moves away. Eustace asked for more bodies, he’ll be lucky to get replacements for ones leaving. We’ve seen this script before, a blind man on a galloping horse can see how this ends. Edited January 8 by MB Rover 8 Quote

I’ve never boycotted only distanced myself by picking and choosing when I felt like going but if this window turns out ugly again I don’t think I could hack the same cycle again. Boycotting would have to be considered, protesting with bed sheets does nothing 1 Quote

roversfan99 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 If you own a Championship football club, you will naturally spend more than you bring in. It doesnt deserve any credit, its something you know going into it and its something that if you arent willing to do then you need to sell. Preston recently announced that their owners had to put in an eight figure amount to cover their losses again, its widespread across the league. 3 Quote
