We're screwed if practically any of those players pick up an injury or illness, especially the likes of Tronstad, Batth or Beck. Side note , that squad layout how you've done it dead simple and shows the full squad as a whole, I like it 👌 Could you do one and add the injured players to positions in Red thankyou!! How do we expect to get promoted taking ‘out of favour’ players from teams below us 🤷🏼♂️ Edit: We are Blackburn Rovers….its what we do. It’s not worked before, so we’ll do it again. Danny Batth wasn't wanted by Norwich but he has been one of our best players this season I know little of Kitching but just because things ain't working out for him at Coventry doesn't mean he can't be an asset for us If he can play cb and lb then it would be a position filled in the squad and probably wouldn't be expensive If there is any money which I seriously doubt then the "big" signings need to come in forward areas 4 Quote

Similar said when he was at Barnsley. Positively though, they think there’s a decent defender in there and he gets on really well with Fadz so if he stays and can keep him in check, it could be a decent signing I guess. Quote

But he isn't terrible and if he was he wouldn't be on the bench for Liverpool. Did England under 21s also have to pay Liverpool a fee if he didn't play for them.Iv already named 4 decent managers who have given him minutes we can add the England under 21 manager Morton would not be a pro footballer if he was terrible. But he was terrible for the Rovers. 1 Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Reserve defender from Coventry, Tyler the crab Morton - this is all getting extremely depressing. 1 Quote

Like I say mate I don't really know him But noticed they paid £4 million for him in 2023 so they must have saw something in him.Pickering being out we need someone back there 1 Quote

Morton will be backup for Trav and Tronstad hopefully. I have no issues with us grabbing a defender Coventry paid £4m for not too long ago, but what we need are goalscorers and/or pace. Quote

Highly doubt cantwell has done enough to warrant any interest Brittain not this month tronstad would be my main concern but comes across as a character that would be happy to stay (depending on the bidder) Quote

It's gonna be painful when someone comes in for Tronstad, it'll probably be a team like Leeds who'll be able to offer him a bumper pay rise. Edited January 9 by TheRevAshton Quote

Tanaka has been one of Leeds best players I can’t see tronstad displacing him as for Brittain to Sunderland something similar - Trae Hume one of their better players seems a pointless buy 1 Quote

If Barrow are promising him game time in L2 at 19 we should bite his hand off. He's not developing sat on the bench / running out for the U21s. I agree he needs to develop, but in our current situation, if Brittain gets injured, who goes right back? = Costello does. Which then leaves you with tronstad and buckley in cm, then after 60 mins when one is knackered who comes on in cm?...... nobody available currently. I just think we need to have someone coming in if hes going out. Id rather have him there as cover than us being bare bones, as he looks very promising. He also has something we lack - pace. If the option was keep Garret as a backup cm, then Id rather not. I would rather have Costello as a cm option playing Duru right back than Garret in cm. I think Duru looks like he will be a player, where as I dont see a world where Garret does, plus trying to learn a trade in cm is a hell of a lot harder than learning it at full back in the championship. IMO. Edited January 9 by ruggles1995 Quote
BankEnd Rover Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Got a feeling we will end up with someone along the lines of Andre Gray up top. Free agent, experienced, still has the ability...I'd like to see us spend, whatever budget we have, on a young foreign winger. 2 Quote

I'm not having that he is a terrible player when he was a regular here finished 7th , regular at Hull finished 7th and both Klopp and Slot have given him premier league and champions league minutes.Plus he involved with England under 21s,starting for them in the main Plus like leftwinger making the comparison with Braintwaithe, Braithwaite was useless and would never make a Premier league player according to some on here, now he is an England International with a transfer valuation of £50+ million. We where Mortons first loan ,to be expected he wouldn't have been the complete player ffs Morton was and is a good player You are right - vastly experienced people are giving him game time, whilst he also seems to be present in top-half finishing Championship teams He will give us more than Buckley. And if he is matured since he was here then I am expecting him to be a good loan, should it materialise Quote

joey_big_nose Posted January 9 Posted January 9 1 hour ago, TheRevAshton said: Cheers bud, yeah course here; Tin hat on - that's a first team squad of 24 players (not included Gilsenan as I would view him more as a U21 player). That's near the maximum for a Championship team I think? Indeed the maximum squad size for the Championship is 25 players + as many non-loaned Under-21 players as you like (only Leonard could come under that I think from the above diagram). So we are only two under the limit, and it would have been one before Baker left. From https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/what-are-the-efl-squad-rules-for-202425-loanee-limits-home-grown-players-and-how-many-subs-are-allowed : " Championship clubs can have squads of up to 25 players, of which a minimum of 8 need to be home grown [see below]. you're allowed an unlimited amount of under-21s on permanent contracts without registering them, but you would need to register any loanees among your 25 players, even if they're under-21s. For home grown : a player to be considered home grown by the EFL, they don't necessarily need to be British (they can be any nationality) or to have been trained by that specific club. All that is required to qualify as home grown is to have been registered with any club affiliated to the FA or the FA of Wales for at least three seasons or 36 months prior to their 21st birthday (or the end of the season they turn 21). We can't see anything to say loanees are excluded from counting as home grown players." 1 Quote
joey_big_nose Posted January 9 Posted January 9 (edited) Based on the above I wonder if we are looking at moving players on to create space in the squad as we literally don't have the room to sign the 3-4 players we want. Until I just looked that up I had no idea that squad sizes are so tight. Edited January 9 by joey_big_nose Quote
