roversfan99 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 And to get rid of a few defences that I expect ahead of the deal if it happens: - it saves money for other positions. We need a decent central midfielder ASWELL as other positions. We have one of the best partnerships in the league arguably when fit, and currently Travis isnt. Then we have Buckley who isnt good enough and potentially now a player Plymouth dont think is good enough, either of whom will at least play in the next month. So you go from a position of strength to weakness because we dont have competent depth. - Eustace picked him. That would be speculation, but even if he has, he wouldnt if he had a reasonable budget. Not expecting a £5m midfielder, but just a decent one. - he is experienced in the league. So is Jason Lowe. Doesnt mean hes good enough. Forshaw was in his day but that day is long, long gone. 2 Quote

Very weird bunch on the LT site. There was actually someone else arguing on there this morning that we were a "development" Club and they didn't want us spending any money in the transfer window in case it put the Club at risk. No real fan would say that. Either not a Rovers supporter or a Club plant. Most posters on there are as thick as shit 3 Quote
Ossydave Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I wasn't expecting much this window tbh, but it wasn't expecting shite like Forshaw to sign. At least signing cheap foreign unknowns there's a chance, no matter how slim, they'll end up semi decent. We know what we're getting with Forshaw and it's utter dross. 2 Quote
DuffsLeftPeg Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Good signing. Rewriting as someone deleted my last post for some reason 🤔 Replaces Baker straight away & adds experience and he’s combative which is what we need. He’s only cover and won’t start when Trav is back. So I’m not sure what people expect? He literally ran the game last season at Ewood. All be it only against Buckley & Ayari but it wasn’t that long ago so he can’t be “past it” as some have described. Hopefully better to come but it’s a start. 3 Quote

As a midfielder you need to have a good engine. Up and down. As a defender you can get away with it a bit more Edited January 10 by roverandout 1 Quote
B16Rover Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Id have rather had Isaac Hayden on loan than Forshaw but unfortunately championship superclub Portsmouth must have beat us to that 2 Quote

davulsukur Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I mean, I think I'd rather we just stuck with Buckley/Garrett/JRC rather than wasting money on Forshaw. 2 1 Quote

We’ll see but I think he’s a decent addition. I liked Baker but I thought he was a little passive and drifted in and out of games when he did play. Forshaw is all action & a bit of a terrier just hope he does still have some life in him yet. Edited January 10 by DuffsLeftPeg Quote

Where is the squad building or the "Brentford model" we were led to believe was happening here? Forshaw - 33 Batth- 34 Weimann - 33 McFadzean- 38 Some serious long term planning going on with half of our signings. 18 Quote

Backroom Popular Post Mike E Posted January 10 Backroom Popular Post Posted January 10 I’d rather have Garrett as backup than Forshaw. 11 1 Quote
Bbrovers2288 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 He has always been a tidy player , but yes it doesn’t initially smack of ambition unless he is the starter for the main course to come , all I can cling to 1 Quote
Neal Posted January 10 Posted January 10 This just screams of another John Fleck type signing... Someone way past their prime, possible injury risk and stuck with their wages. Simply not what we need. 2 Quote
wilsdenrover Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I expect (hope!) it’s expectation management ‘Waggott style’ Leak links to really shit players in the hope that when we sign a less shit player (but not as good as we were initially wishing for) we’re all relieved rather than angry. 2 Quote
Polky Posted January 10 Posted January 10 We didn’t get any experienced players under JDT and now we’re going the other way. I understand he fills a spot until the end of the season, but feels like another Fleck/Basturk to me. In five years time, we’ll forget he even played for the club. Quote
