Lancaster Rover
With Tronstad out Travis will be a different player. Tronstad has enabled Travis to be much more expansive and forward thinking knowing he has the safety and solidity alongside him.

Popular Post TheRevAshton
Absolutely fucked if that’s true about Tronstad. It was bad enough that Travis was out… but both?! They need to bring in a proper midfielder on loan, not a dogshit squad filler, a proper player who can even compete with the 2 of those for a place when they’re fully fit. Lewis O’Brien, Massimo Luongo or someone of a similar ilk. Unfortunately though, there’s no chance with these muppets. It’ll be Buckley, JRC, Forshaw and Garrett for the foreseeable - so we’ll gradually slip out of the playoffs, and into mid-table. We're down to Buckley, JRC and Forshaw for the next few games. If Buckley plays like he did first half today, consistently, that will help a lot, but there's still no shielding for the defence there. Sorry, I could have sworn someone had said he was already back out on loan. Doesn't look like he is. Since he didn't make the bench yet again though and we'd rather put young Isaac Dunn on it, I think we can rest assured the intention is to send him back out, so we're avoiding playing him as that will prevent anyone else being eligible to field him. BankEnd Rover
People really think we're going to now go for a CM? I highly doubt it, especially when Travis is back in a few weeks.

Popular Post JHRover
If the club was serious about its recruitment and the next 19 games and securing a play-off position it could move very quickly and bring in a new player or two tonight, tomorrow or Monday and have them straight into the team on Tuesday. That isn't some sort of unfeasible luxury only open to the top 4 clubs, it happens quite frequently. Oxford had it today with their CB signed from Huddersfield yesterday. That costs money however, and so instead what we will have is a continuation of the same from the last 5 January windows, which is a load of rumours, talks, claims, followed by a couple of average loans at the very last minute who won't be up to speed and won't give us what we need. I feel really sorry for Eustace, his staff, the players and of course the fans. The effort so far this season has been magnificent however the Venky factor will ensure it falls away into mid-table like is has every year. Players aren't machines or robots and it is telling that people like Travis and Tronstad - with exceptional fitness records - have recently succumbed to muscular injuries. Too many games at a high intensity takes its toll. Thanks to our financial choices and decisions we've not got the depth to shuffle the deck. Armstrong and Szmodics didn’t have one and scored plenty. We need goals. And a midfield. A winger with pace would only give more chances to those up front who are generally lacking. Dont get me wrong though. I’d like the midfielder, striker and winger. Edited January 18 by Hasta

True, that probably was their intention until Tronstad went down. If Garrett’s in the squad for the Cov’ game on Tuesday, it’ll tell us everything we need to know about our budget, and of the ambitions of those in charge. 3 minutes ago, BankEnd Rover said: People really think we're going to now go for a CM? I mean they should… but they won’t.
Hasta
If Pickering was fit, Beck in midfield would be an option like we did with Warnock years ago. Alas, the squad is that piss weak we haven’t got another left back.
Torgeir
ACD poor once again when he starts. Perhaps keep him as an impact sub? Squad is wearing thinnnn. Nobody was lined up once the window opened - it's borderline criminal. Staff guilty of negligence. Anyone still wonder why John Park left? Forshaw's legs have gone, he can hardly move out there..

Don't want to see our team built around John Buckley - my opinion anyway.

If that's the calibre of signing that they think is fit to step in for either Travis or Tronstad, who the hell have the got lined up as attackers? They'd sign the ghosts of Denis Law and George Best if they could, and even then they'd be looking for the div3 equivalents. Forshaw is a downgrade from Baker but a step up from Fleck, but only because Fleck had part of his leg missing.

They 'sold' the Sanderson and Forshaw deals to Eustace and therefore the fans on the basis that it was allowing more funds to be concentrated on the recruitment of our priority positions. I expect when we do get around to signing someone that will be shown up to be even more nonsense as we scour the loan and cheap markets.
roversfan99
It feels like such a big opportunity, the league is particularly poor but there are 2 play off places up for grabs. Especially if Boro lose Latte Lath. We have such an average side with a poor attack but we have a good manager who has the knack of digging out results built on solidity and discipline. We have to have a go in this window and its so frustrating that we inevitably wont. It doesnt bode well that weve signed an aging Plymouth reserve who stunk the place out today. The reasoning was clearly budgetary but even there it should have been a case where at least a more reasonable wage contribution was available to get decent cover in. Not cutting corners and now we will need a player who wont be up to it.

Sanderson is more likely than not a Eustace signing, no doubt that's why it's only a loan. Forshaw is 100% a venky signing. A player that had his contract cancelled by the club at the bottom of the league. That is the extent of their ambition. On a side note, the club loses millions a year. This is entirely down to the owners and the people who they employ. If they don't want to lose so much then they could either hire someone competent or just sell up and fuck off. Every single club in this league loses millions a year, the only difference between us and the rest is that everyone else has ambition to do more than just exist.
