Popular Post J*B
Just now, Neal said: Christ, not for the sake of results but we desperately need a decent signing for the sake of everyone's fucking sanity. I’m sure we’ll sign an obscure player for hardly any money with a limited history of success for peanuts and everyone will get excited again shortly. Until it becomes apparent they’re not up to it.
martonrover
The irony is that, had Birmingham's new owners not sacked Eustace, there's a good chance he'd have got them to the Play Offs (as a minimum), either last season or this. They clearly fell into the trap of being star struck by a big name as a player, (Rooney), but have now probably learned, and are backing their new manager with hard cash. Had Eustace been retained, and given the same backing, the sky would've been the limit.
Popular Post RevidgeBlue
I think the penny is starting to drop with Eustace - from sounding very bullish originally about being confident we'd get the extra "quality" in to help the squad etc he's now been reduced to saying in 2 separate interviews he hopes the current squad step up to the plate in the second half of the season and is now merely "hopeful" that we'll get the reinforcements we need. If things play out in the usual fashion for the rest of the window it'll be a particular kick in the teeth for supporters given we were told there was some money to spend and the fact the two signings so far were specifically paraded as cheap additions so as to leave more money available for the priority positions. Plus of course, it will be the third time in four seasons the same thing has happened.
G Somerset Rover
As J*B says, it doesn’t take much to placate the Rovers fan base. We could bring in nonody else between now and the end of the window and even pull off another O’Brien / McGuire screw-up and still the majority would just shrug their shoulders and come up with b*llocks like, ‘we’re keeping our powder dry’ or ‘they can’t fund us’ etc etc. It’s infuriating. I can only imagine how JE is feeling.

roverandout
If this happens for a third January window in a row then venkys need to be pushed out the door and serious questions asked why they arent interested in promotion. They must be hiding something

It always makes me laugh when the "happy clapper' cliché starts to get thrown about. I always ask the question, what does a non happy clapper actually do that a happy clapper doesn't, other than come on here complaining and call other fellow fans a happy clapper? 2

Popular Post ben_the_beast
Still remember the stories which were pushed in the media when Mowbray was in charge and we were second in January. Back then it was that Venkys had committed to £10million worth of bonuses to the players if we went up. Yet they coughed up sod all to actually help us get there. Their promises are always for tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes.

Just the same as people saying "stop being negative." Unhelpful rubbish in the absence of anything constructive.
roversfan99
Lewis O'Brien has essentially been dismissed in the LT with the usual line of "prioritising the budget for a striker and winger." It cant be either or. A normal club with an ounce of ambition looks at it and the owners release more funds for an extra midfield signing knowing that the landscape has changed with Tronstad now injured and Baker having returned. Not here. It cant be either attackers or midfield. Even if we sign attacking reinforcements, such a strong part of our team has been massively damaged. But just make do with a Plymouth reserve.

Especially someone like Eustace who, as well as being a fantastic coach, seems like an absolute gentleman. Pains me to say such things... Outside of my family and a few close friends, there are very few things that I love more than this Football Club. I think we can all resonate there. It's our football club. It's life outside of the 9-5. It's a social hub. What's frustrating is they bang on about community in their sideline projects, Rovers are doing this in the community, Rovers are doing that in the community. (And provide some great support to those who need it and educational forums wholeheartedly benefit) But the feeling of community dwindles when you look at the Steel House that Jack built, that sits proudly a focal point in the bosom of Ewood, when you drive past it and sigh at the days gone by crowds 30 abreast walking down the hill no tarmac in sight. Community. What do they know about community. Only thing this community can do now is stick by the team and the badge and go along for the ride. Albeit a car with no brakes heading down a very steep hill with pointy stuff at the bottom.
BankEnd Rover
With names linked and the expectation of no surprises then I think we'll bring in that Kargbo. Low wages and won't cost too much. Just been watching quite a long reel on him. Make of it what you will but he certainly ticks the pace we need.

I think it’s more despair and exasperation , than anger. It’s also not really a case of calling out “happy clappers”. It’s supporters who still sympathise with Venkys, and believe the narrative that they are doing all they can. The people who sit behind me are a good example. You certainly couldn’t describe them as being “happy clappers”, (one is extremely vocal with criticism of players), but they react with amazement and scorn if anti - Venky chanting begins.
Popular Post Rover down South
That time of year again where our rivals are dining on steak whilst we feed off scraps from the floor. The comment of O'Riorden having to go out on loan to free up wages hits home the state of this club. This lot don't give a damn about Blackburn Rovers, so don't get lost in actually thinking players like O'Brien will actually arrive this January. You were duped into thinking that in 2023 and 2024. Don't fall for it again. We are sat fifth in the second tier of English football, lacking a goalscorer and suffering many injuries, yet nothing is happening about bringing quality in. Just another chapter of complete betrayal to everything Jack Walker built and cared for so dearly and another kick in the teeth to us, the fans.

Just saw that and thought the same, with the narrative being that he has the "Championship experience" Eustace wants If we count Championship experience as mainly sitting on the bench and appearing as a late sub
