Has your view changed now due to the injuries? Of course I would always signings in early as we all like but January transfer window is crap tbh..most major transfers later until you have money to buy quality. Hindsight is wonderful thing but we knew before January what we wanted which were quality striker and wideman with pace. That's hasn't changed. I'm surprised we haven't brought in that wide man but give Wallace and Schlupp arent coming now. Hence why we move on Kargbo now. Quality striker is always going to the problem in January, unless you spend 5-10 million pounds on one. I think Eustace will want Bamford in if we get Kargbo in. Tho if Bamford doesn't happen then I expect Danns or Scarlett in on loan, or even low fee striker signing like Callum Robinson or Emil Riis 16 hours ago, Ricky said: Also, I’m assuming that you are starting to share the concern of the group that we may not get the quality we need through the door. I wonder if they didn’t realise that players could leave for free at the end of the contract and that £7m would be lost. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit, especially if the rumours of them not knowing about relegation are true. Sick of the sight of him over the years. Riis is a much better fit stylistically than Bamford, and a hell of a lot cheaper I would imagine.

The manager must be beside himself. "Try" "aim" "hope" it's always jam tomorrow (which never materialises) with this chancer, never "We will" or "We can" do anything. Instead of all that flowery prose signifying absolutely nothing he might as well have just given us the line he spins to the Fans Forum - "We're looking into it". Looks also like it's going to pan out as I predicted yesterday. Couple of cheap short term signings to cover the recent injuries and the original priority positions which will cost more money to fill will be conveniently brushed under the carpet and forgotten about.

There's little faith in anyone above the manager currently and it does have a psychological impact. 👍 It happened near the end of JDTs first season when we still had a chance of the play offs. Ruined the morale of players and coaches. Imagine working hard to get a group of players raising their game then Jabba the Twunt and the worlds luckiest chicken factory manager stumble in like clowns and vacuum the life and ambition out of the club.

When I mentioned BBD and Szmodics was in context of them improving massively their goal record whilst here Young chaddy? 😂😂😂 If we signed a random player in Serie B would you not be concerned considering you have echoed that Eustace wants Championship experience throughout this window that it clearly wouldnt be a Eustace signing? When you have such a limited budget and prioritise domestic experience then you are likely going to get someone who is sat on the bench and/or past his best. Bamford wont be coming here as his wages are extortionate. Players like Thomas Asante and maybe someone like Jacob Brown would also probably be beyond us but even if you got someone of that ilk, they arent natural goalscorers and struggle for game time at clubs lower down the table. Riis seems to be second choice to Osmajic and has struggled to score many goals since a serious injury and Robinson will be too important to Cardiff. If we go for a young lad on loan it is a bit depressing. Danns has barely played senior football. Scarlett has just been recalled having found it impossible to play at Oxford ahead of a striker who hasnt scored for ages, he would be bottom of the barrel. If we have even a couple of million, the choices are to go for someone like BTA/Brown (not necessarily those 2) who isnt going to score that many but is an upgrade on what we have and you know what you are getting. Or take a risk abroad where you do then have a chance of finding someone with a higher ceiling but also know theres a chance he could flop. So risk and reward. The first option is 3 on a dice, you could roll a 6 or a 1 if you think outside the box. If we go for a young lad on loan on top of a Serie B winger (who has struggled to replicate his Serie C) and/or fail to also get someone in to help to cover the Tronstad void, then we clearly arent serious and wont have the capability to be in the top 6 reckoning. It will all come down to money and it is hard to have any optimism that we will get what we need. Buy a striker, buy a winger, loan a midfielder and loan a left back should be the order of the day.
chaddyrovers
14 hours ago, roversfan99 said: Its flawed logic to say well Szmodics and Brereton started scoring as if you can sign anyone and it might happen. They are the exceptions to the the rule. And even then, Brereton was very young when we signed him and it took years for him to do that and Szmodics whilst he had never scored anywhere near as much as he did had seasons where he had scored quite a lot albeit in League 1. Fair points but also if the team is set up for them you will score more goals. 14 hours ago, roversfan99 said: Obviously you dont know how many goals any signings might score, one who rarely has in the past might score loads and one who had scored lots might be rubbish in a Rovers shirt. I think BTA is more than capable of scoring 15 goals a season at this level and if he was/is our number 1 target, go and get it done 14 hours ago, roversfan99 said: I know yeah. I am saying that there has been a lot of talk in this window about Championship experience. I am saying that if you limit yourself then its a smaller pool and a more congested market. But if the head coach wants that and you keep saying let's head coach decides who we sign then which one is it. Give the head coach what he wants or ignore him? 13 hours ago, roversfan99 said: Elliott Jackson confirming talks with Kargbo. Clearly not what the manager wants having repeated that he wants Championship experience so @chaddyrovers you might struggle to say otherwise. Track record hardly says ready for a Championship play off push. All very underwhelming But he has the pace from the video I've watched 13 mins. From the links in the media, it's appears Championship experience is what we want. If we have switch to Kargbo then that's suggests we cant bring in what Eustace for whatever reasons. I would personally gone for Tyler Goodham from Oxford. He impressed me alot against us at Ewood.

Paul Mani
4 hours ago, roversfan99 said: If we lose at the weekend with our depleted squad, it would further highlight how its not just a case of getting the right players in. It would be 3 losses on the bounce. There’s no sane justification for not prioritising the ‘right ones’ based on the fact that the signing will see them play / have the opportunity to play 20 odd games, minimum. Do I think a couple of forwards might’ve put a few of those chances we missed vs Oxford and Cov away? Maybe nicked us a point vs Burnley? Yes. But weirdly, even with the new signings we’re expecting to make, we’d still be short of numbers going into the Bristol City game. Mattyblue
You shouldn’t be relying on ‘hindsight’ to work out that we fall down the table from Christmas onwards every season. Why does this thing seem to happen ever year? Bit odd, isn’t it? Maybe it’s due to so many games with a small squad. Said squad picks up injuries, doesn’t get reinforced in January, we fall down the table. Repeated ad nauseam.
Ossydave
Waggott would probably have been better staying quiet than issuing that 'statement', talk about insulting people's intelligence. I simply couldn't do it.
Mattyblue
And I actually pay money out of my own pocket to an organisation that sees the set up he heads as a ‘friend’, ergo the only conclusion of such a descriptor is that he’s someone they feel they can work with for the betterment of Blackburn Rovers. AJW
FWIW I think the Kargbo deal will happen maybe over the weekend but I also think listening to Waggot that will be it from an attacking point of view , next signing will be a kid on loan from a PL team that is considered a utility player someone’s who can fill in at a number of positions in defence and midfield , I saw a link to a Villa player recently and I think that is the way they will go
