January Transfer window

The wait until the end of the window is totally flawed logic. If you've identified your targets, you will have done your homework (via agents) on what you can buy for, contract price so why not buy early and have the player for an extra month. We've sacrificed 9 points and possibly more to come, plus risked the fitness of several players due to our inactivity in the market. Very poor all round and to argue otherwise is nonsense, the idea that the bet business is done at the end is a work of fiction.

Spot on.

Even if there was logic in waiting until the very end of the window, which there isn't if your priority and focus is on games and results rather than pounds and pennies, but even if there was, surely the painful experience of the ever so unfortunate fiascos in the last couple of years, both seemingly occurring under the time pressures of deadline day, would convince the 'powers that be' to perhaps not leave it to such chance and to avoid that outcome again this year?

Lessons learned from past mistakes?

Or maybe that's exactly how they like it - then they can trot out with the usual excuses with an ever willing legion of fans on standby ready to lap it all up - look at Luton spending millions on a League One striker 'we can't compete with that' etc.

Well actually, we can compete with that, infact we did several years ago when these owners pumped in millions to sign Brereton, Armstrong and Gallagher, and could do so again now by releasing a fraction of the tens of millions they've brought in. As it has always been it is a Venky choice that is killing us.

So instead they're just sat waiting for one of our 'targets' i.e. loans whose parent clubs are now willing to release and subsidise to a degree that we are willing to pay in return for basically guaranteed games as we've no depth not to give them guaranteed games.

Another flaw in the "waiting to the end of the window to judge" approach is that it gets more difficult to secure targets as the time for their club to replace them becomes less. An already narrow window of opportunity for everyone nears closing and the likelihood of non-panic (and non-shite) additions becomes smaller. The "wait to the end of the window to judge" approach is, at best, naïve and, at worst, apologetic for the owners' and/or executives' shambolic failures of planning. The cost of the failings is felt by the manager, the squad and the fans. Anyone who suggests more "let's wait and see" regarding the utter fuckwits in charge of our club is totally deluded.

Have venkys sent any money over for transfers do we know since the tweet?

Waggot claimed (Fans Forum minutes) that he was in the process of making a request for funding for the January window on 25/11.

Unsubstantiated rumours since then that Suhail might have advised Waggott it would be a bad time to ask them so not to bother.

Still 6 days or so of the window to go but so far the proof of the pudding etc etc

It’s not only that. The players were looking for help and none has come apart from 2 guys who were obviously bought as bench fillers. Some of them will be thinking “ Why am I grafting every game when the top echelon don’t care ? Why am I having to turn out before I’m really over this injury when they don’t care ? “

In my opinion only Eustace is keeping the show on the road. Last Saturday being an example were a real rag, tag, and bobtail team gave it their best shot.

So after signing two warm bodies for as small a cost as possible, we decide to make a move for Kargbo. It should be quite easy to sign him since it will be a cheap signing. Also noone else is interested in signing him. He will also be very interested in the move since his wages are very low.

Considering the above: How the fuck has nothing happened with less than a week left of the transfer window? The way the club conducts itself is so embarrassing.

Yep.

We were clearly flagging quite badly before Christmas but kept ourselves in it just about with spirited wins over Boro and Portsmouth.

For management and owners not to back them after that after working so hard to get into a decent position must be so demoralising for Eustace and the squad.

They must be thinking "Why bother?'

Kargbo, no relaunch
From England, however, no new offer have arrived yet for Augustus Kargbo, who coach Artico would not like to sell, also because it would not be easy to find a replacement in the time left with the same characteristics. But everything will depend on a possible relaunch by Blackburn Rovers, currently stuck at the 800 thousand euros put on the table last week and deemed insufficient by Cesena…..

Is this literally all we're looking at?

Agreed, a good player is a good player at the start, middle and end. You can judge a good buy and a bad buy at any point in time. I can say now that Sanderson is a mediocre buy, will try hard put some big tackles in but overall it's clear there is a reason he's at Birmingham and not a top team.

Forshaw, again been a decent player and for 20 minutes will do a job. Don't expect him to be covering every blade of grass running the game. He will come on to shore things up, always show for the ball and pop it sideways and backward to take the sting out of the game. So 2 uninspiring squad fillers.

Sanderson an upgrade on McFadx due to mobility, Forshaw a downgrade on Baker for the same reason. So thus far a neutral window on signings. However due to lack of activity in filling key areas, resulting in point losses, injuries, obvious mental fatigue on the manger, playing staff and fanbase the window is a huge negative and would take an enormous signing to turn it into a positive.

Shambles isn't it...800euro which equates to £670,000 and we arn't pushing further.? Is that all thats in our kitty? Are we spreading our budget on more permanents? Has a primary target now become available that wasn't? Has a cheaper option now come available?

Out of the above i presume its the latter, and then others will be cheap loans.

No chance anyone is coming in before nobbers and if we loose, which is very likely, things will turn sour for sure.

If some of us are thinking that you can be sure that some of the players are thinking the same. Only personal pride and self respect will keep them going but different players have different levels of pride and self respect.

No point in judging at the end of the window now. The club has already failed the manager and the fans.

We've had our usual Xmas/new year collapse and the club did nothing to try and prevent it.

Play offs are now unlikely and any signings are either for next season or just a sticking plaster to get us through the rest of this season.

I agree but let's remember play offs were never likely. By chance yes but definitely not the intention of the direction of the club. We just about survived last season no thanks to those above but they don't care about promotion or playoffs. If anything I wouldn't be surprised if we aren't getting Jan reinforcements because it will help us stay in top 6. Not paranoid or conspiracy but just know our club and the shit show direction we are under and can imagine it's better for them if we don't get into play offs so anything to hinder, and stay surviving championship, rather than help us get promoted and back to where we should be is unlikely.

Does Eustace actually want this player?

Or is it a case of Gestede and Waggott going with this player as he will be cheap?

I don't think this is the type of signing we should be making in this window, domestic players should be targeted.

If this isn't a player Eustace has called for its likely this fella will be used from the bench with Eustace continuing with people he trusts Hedges etc

More likely we have no money and need to sell first.

A genuine question for you and other posters really.

Seeing as we've seen Jed Wallace's named branded around earlier on, would you rather him or this Kargbo? Both in the similar price range, possibly Wallace a tad cheaper?

The chief scout's whiteboard hasn't been updated since Gregg and Park left and we're not really sure how else to operate.  We keep checking in case a name appears but so far no luck!
