Only just read yesterdays LT but Jackson saying Rovers would like to get ‘1 or 2 in’ before PNE game.

I'm sure they "would like to".  They would also probably "like" one of those to be Haaland 😉

Very true JH.

We haven't reinvested in the squad..even just the Szmodics's money where you could have used that money to sign 3 or 4 quality signings that would be assets now but also for the future..

Plus we haven't renew the contracts yet of Hyam, Tronstad, Travis, Brittain, Pickering, Pears and what the hell is going on with them and why haven't they been sorted it? Question for the fan forum to asked at the next meeting @K-Hod @only2garners please

Contract renewals are already on my list.

There’s been some  talk recently from Eustace bigging up Makhtar Gueye … think we are being prepared to be let down

We apparently have a 23 man squad at the moment, leaving 2 spaces, I can see us bringing in a wide player and then maybe a loan for a left back, before we are told that there was no space left in the squad for a striker signing (which coincidentally would have been a multi million £ signing that they would have loved to get done)

The only one that seems suitable for us right now is Kone but we're never going to match or better Luton's offer. And can he make the step up?

100000% he is outrageous, far far too good for league 1.

My mate and I who went yesterday were absolutely baffled he only got picked up by a league 1 club and not a prem club.

Anyone got a table of some sort on how much money clubs actually lose in the championship? I feel like it’s just us that loses money therefore we cant spend, “well apparently” 👀

Not what you asked for but in the 22/23 accounts we lost, before player trading, £17.5 million.

The championship as a whole lost (again pre player trading) £456 million so an average of £19 million.

Clearly that average could be ‘distorted’ by there being a club in profit or making a far larger loss but on the face of it our position seems fairly standard for the division.

He was playing at a very low level of non league football - albeit scoring a lot of goals. He's got an unusual background - first came to this country aged 16 to represent the Ivory Coast in the Homeless World Cup, stating that he was homeless after being kicked out by his mother after coming out as gay. Subsequently he has fathered a child.

We need a laughing reaction!

We are without doubt, the cast off / no longer bothered with alien ant farm purchased as a toy by inbred spoilt idiots on a whim because they thought it might make them popular with the normal kids on the block.  Now gathering dust, waiting to be Freecycled.

Wouldn't mind that Barlaser link being true, he'd slot right into the squad with Sonny out and bring genuine competition for a place (for both Sonny & Trav) when he's back.

With it likely to be a permanent signing, i'd probably favour this over a loan move for O'Brien.

You need to have quality in depth, a good starting XI simply isn't enough.

Just been looking at the Cov forums following what a previous poster advised, they seem adamant that we've gone back for BTA for a similar fee that they paid for him 🤔

I bet we aren't.

If we sign quality striker then I think we get playoff place.

We need more than that to finish in the top 6.

We deffo should have offered Eustace a new contract plus to our best players who should be on long term contract like Brittain, Hyam, Carter, Travis, Tronstad, Pickering, Pears.

Pickering is contracted until 2028 with his option, Carter and Pears 2027.

The big worry for me is Brittain, Hyam, Tronstad and Travis all being next summer, I bet you now we don't get any of those sorted on a longer term deal.

Easy words to say.

Sensible thing to do would be go and get that Theirry Small from Charlton for the left back position, wouldn't need to register him, would be cheap being out of contract in the summer and will have good resale value.

Also, don't register Hilton to free up another place, out of contract in the summer anyway and Michelski could easily step up and fill his role.

True but there would need to be an outgoing or two

JE wants winger / striker and left back

not enough space unless he makes the ballsy decision to omit some but I don’t think the clowns above would approve of wasted wages

I think his movement, pace, ability to hold the ball up plus goals is what we lack.

I'm thinking him plus a good attacking left sided player.

Thanks for the reply

Would you sign a new contract if you were Eustace? Or those players for that matter? At least 50% of them could walk into a championship club, likely on more money than they are on now.  They might enjoy playing for Rovers, but their agents won’t let them sign any old rubbish that we offer knowing that we’re one of the lowest payers in the division.  Lenihan, Rothwell, BBD, Nyambe, probably others…

There will be other clubs that have the same issue, Preston for example couldn’t keep hold of Browne. But the fact that the owners have accelerated our plight and appear to have no interest in improving the situation makes it so fucking galling.

I do not disagree, but sensible tends not to be how Rovers are run these days
