Plymouth who are going down have spent over double us? York City in National League have spent £450k? Make it make sense. We are standing still, key player contracts not being renewed (yet) likes of Birmingham and Wrexham will try send a strong message next year if promoted, as it stands I’d be very worried in the next year or 2.

philipl
In the BBC interview, when asked if he is confident the two deals will be done today, JE looks down to the right before saying yes. Complete tell of self-doubt in his answer.

I love how the idea of signing a CM is seemingly off the table now that we've missed O'brien... amateurs. Didn't need a CM anyway but also with only 2 spots available in the 25 man squad, a left back and striker are what is the priority. Tronstad is back in 3 weeks and we already 4 options there 35 minutes ago, callumrovers said: Could see Karlan Grant coming in, loan and gives Eustace championship experience. I would be happy with that. 31 minutes ago, BankEnd Rover said: Mentioned him before, I'd 100% have him but looks like WBA won't release until they find a replacement...The way Eustace interview goes is that he's confident we will bring in a striker...Those words wouldn't come out his mouth unless the deal was close to being done. WBA are bringing in another striker for £3.3m. 21 year old striker. Plus they have just signed a Spurs striker on loan Will Lankshear

Could be that he doesn’t want to give too much away. Honestly, I’m farrrrr from a pessimist. But I know he offered his resignation in the summer when they pulled the rug from under him, having promised him the McGuire cash if he kept them up. I PRAY that the striker is one he wants, and I would prioritise JE’s happiness over my opinion on their quality, because them signing some obscure 28yr old Mali international will not cut it. We might be about to piss all over our own chips with Eustace. We likely already have…🙈 Wouldn't surprise me if we sign Adam Armstrong or Karlan Grant or Patrick Bamford on loan given Eustace that experience championship striker he wanted but yet it wouldn't surprise me if sign some unknown overseas striker or young striker from a PL club. 15 minutes ago, Hi Mack said: I think that’s the frustration. Boro have sold players but they have reinvested a decent chunk on good players. You see Sunderland, Burnley and even Hull all going for it. Not one of our signings so far improves the starting 11. Hardly improve the squad. Kargbo I haven’t seen but he is likely going to need a month to settle in. It’s blatant there is zero ambition anymore. We are only getting players that are unwanted and no one else is in the market for. Groundhog Day!!!!! Only 2 of Boro 6 signings are permanent signings and Travers has only been signed cos of injuries to First choice and second choice keepers. Burnley need a quality striker signing and have they sign one? Hull have done good business

I keep coming back to Eustace's comments after signing Sanderson and Forshaw. All about it being a means to an end as it reinforced the squad at basically next-to-no expense therefore allowing us to concentrate our resources on getting our main targets and 'proven, experienced' quality in the door in the more pressing positions. Since then we've had an unknown from the Italian lower divisions and, allegedly, are close to signing cover at LB on loan (I'll believe it when I see it). Eustace has made it quite clear that he had nothing to do with Kargbo and even if he had it clearly in no way shape or form suggests proven experienced quality. I'd be surprised if he had much at all to do with the LB loan. If that's about it then it's clear to me that they've played him for a fool just like they did JDT and the rest of us. People don't like being lied to or taken for fools. It breaks trust and can be impossible to recover from. As a coping mechanism some delude themselves into thinking that its all fine and normal or that things will change.

Paul Mani
23 minutes ago, Exiled_Rover said: As far as I understand it; first it was a straight cash deal - then at some point shortly after he was told the deal was off and not to get on the plane. By that point he'd already said goodbye to Orlando and his agent thought he'd be able to get a deal elsewhere, if not at Rovers. So clearly someone at Rovers (Suhail?) decided there's no way we're paying £3m for someone and scuppered the deal. It's at this point that I think Broughton went rogue - bearing in mind McGuire was sat in a Sheffield hotel lobby - and tried to rescue the deal with Orlando by offered a loan with a mandatory buying fee. Obviously by now Orlando were pissed off, so asked for £1m+ more, which we agreed to. Again someone at Rovers scuppered this at the last possible moment by 'forgetting to press send'. Silvestre fell on his sword and Broughton was sacked shortly after. Great understanding - Though apparently it was Waggott who decided to engineer GB and JDT’s removal. He approached JE and negotiated the deal. Suhail doesn’t do anything operationally, he just gives the yay or nay!

I dont have anything against Plymouth. And I will judge him on how he plays. But I dont consider a cheap freebie unwanted by Plymouth to be "4th or 5th choice" to be sufficient when we lost our decent 3rd choice, have injuries in that position and are supposedly chasing promotion. Either I have high expectations for wanting someone better than Forshaw or you have dangerously low standards.

Their window so far... Morgan Whittaker George Edmundson Samuel Iling-Junior Ryan Giles Mark Travers Kelechi Iheanacho Compare that to ours... the difference is absolutely astronomical. That there is how it's done, that is ambition. What our owners have done, and continue to do, is absolutely unforgiveable. Pocketing fortunes from selling our best players, one of which is a born-and-bred Rover and product of Jack's Academy... then having the Club feed off scraps for replacements. Absolute scum of the highest order. Wooof, that puts it into perspective. 1 point behind us and they've brought in 4 players that would walk into our first team.
Proudtobeblue&white
We are a shell of a club. The Loons do it time after time. We are in a good position in the league, but they refuse to beck the manager. If/when JE goes, who in their right mind would want to come and manage here? They are a disgrace to the club/town and supporters. I hate them with a passion!
