January Transfer window

Given Morton isn't on loan anywhere and has only played 3 times for Liverpool feels to me like he will be on his way somewhere. Would be a bit weird for him to come back here at the same club but different manager. I would have thought they would prefer a new different environment just for the change.

Also the Liverpool loan team aren't daft - they will see that if Travis, Tronstad and Cantwell are fit Morton won't be starting like Baker wasn't. I am sure their number 1 criteria will be who will put him straigth into the first XI like he has been at Rovers last time and then Hull. So I can't really see it.

Don't know if we have any interest or not, but would love us to try for Ricky Jade Jones . Contract up in the summer so shouldn't cost a fortune, can play wide attacker or in the middle and , just as important is absolutely RAPID.

Rather him than Poku tbh

Cardiff had a bid rejected, not sure how much for though

Poku has played near 10 games less and has near double goals and assists - but based on availability he’s not an option

Low fee low risk, not against it at all.

Another striker option, Aaron Connolly, felt we should’ve looked at him in summer. Out of favour at Sunderland and only on a short term deal, might come in and grab 5/6 goals. Questions always been over his attitude but I’ve been impressed a few times we’ve played against him.

5'7" CF? No thanks.

I want to trust the recruitment team, because overall the summer window was positive. However, the last several January windows have left a bitter taste in the mouth and I am reluctant to believe this window will be any different.

The summer window was positive but the Head of Recruitment likely responsible for the better transfers has now left the club.

I wouldn’t trust the people making decisions behind the scenes at Blackburn Rovers. There’s a reason for 15 years of steady decline.

Just for the fun of it, January free agents below.  As usual I've not seen them kick a ball

Striker

Prince Osei Owusu - 1 in 3 in MLS in 2024.  With Toronto on about 10k a week.  Last kicked a ball in October.

Erik Choupo Mouting - he has arguably the best agent in football so is likely too coy to come here, and is almost definitely passed it.  Also hasn't kicked a ball in 6 months.

Mariano Diaz - a bit like ECM, ex Real Madrid and Lyon - might not fancy East Lancs

Kemar Roofe - presumably retired but showing as available? File this below Andre Grey

Wingers

Ryan Kent - discussed previously

Yaw Yeboah - was on 8k at Columbus Crew where we are scouting Farsi from.  Apparently plays LWB and LW.

Gaston Gonzalez - was at Orlando with McGuire and averaged a 7 fotmob rating.  Might be turned off by our handling of his team mates

Ivan Cavaleiro - ex Fulham and Wolves.  Been playing as recently as December!

Centre mids

Jonjo Shelvey - Voldemort himself, relative local lad.  Good set piece taker, just completely immobile.

Dru Yearwood - last player October in the MLS, allegedly (according to fotmob) a bit of a box to box

It's a game of opinions, a lot of managers here seemingly rated Jason Lowe and Corry Evans as well.

When did he make those appearances for Liverpool? In the EFL  Cup?

Yeah. They are still appearances though. We shouldn’t belittle that cup - a lot of the 2nd team in Prem footy would walk into good Championship clubs

Lowe and Evans aren’t in the category of Morton

Eustace wants 2/3 to come in and improve the team. I don't think we'll go for anyone who hasn't been playing/training with a club and who would need a month or two to get up to fitness. They'd have to be exceptional at this level to convince us to take a punt that they'd be contributing in cameo sub appearances until then.

Klopp started him away to Ac Milan in the champions league and at Spurs in the Premier league in an important Premier league match

Rosenior started him whenever fit for Hull last season

The England under 21 who have a huge pool to pick from had him in all the squads and more often than not the starting 11

He wouldn't be the signing to fire us to the Premier league .And he won't be signing for us anyway but he is not a terrible player .He wouldn't even be making benches for Liverpool if he was terrible

But he was terrible for us… which is what we’re judging on, no?

Well silly if that's the case we where his first loan out as a kid....and aside from the two promoted clubs we spent the most time in the top 6 that season...we actually came out of it when he had lost his place in the team

The other day you suggested a young striker from Spurs because he had "Liam Delap vibes".Ask Stoke City and Prestons supporters about how his loan was with them

At the end of the day he has started in central midfield for 2 seasons in the championship and both times the clubs just missed out on the playoffs.

He is involved with the under 21s and has been from teens.

Both Klopp and Slot have both given him minutes,  now I'm not suggesting he is that level of player and don't get me wrong I don't think he is brilliant. But he certainly isn't terrible. And if he was to sign here as a Baker replacement then I wouldn't be complaining. As long as the other positions especially the forward areas was funded aswell
