Said similar yesterday

kitching wasn’t mentioned anywhere by anybody until Elliot confirmed talks had taken place last week

its the only hope I’m clinging on to at this time that cards are being kept close to their chest with certain targets

park gone = Nixon back to being out of the loop

Kitching maybe isn't a great example (an uninspiring potential signing we hadnt heard about rather than a great one) but I agree on your general point.

Eustace has finally been forced to dumb down by the club. Like every optimistic manager before him. Like a new teacher arriving at a school with positive outlooks on teaching his children then finding out the school is a lost cause

Kinel guys….relax. There’s so much context that can’t be seen in written text. But when you add in the fact that the report is paraphrasing a full conversation, it makes full understanding impossible.

Maybe he was referring to others who had said they were “Too good”, maybe they’d just had a joke about Ronaldo coming to Rovers off camera and that was the context?? There’s many many ways this could be read.

In the main, the message is REALLY clear from JE. The most pertinent word in the interview is ‘ambitious’ for me. That is laying the gauntlet down to Suhail and The V’s.

We seen a fake link to Luis Saurez..

Also I think he is putting pressure on to get quality players in he wants. He wants promotion and he thinks we can achieve this, this season. Time to back him with 3 quality signings he wants

Yup, in this article: https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/24844743.eustace-blackburn-rovers-ambition-west-brom-links/

I fully agree on your last line. Most of the links have been shite, not a single player I would consider 'too good' for us - shocking take from Eustace.

It is the JDT version of calling Waggott and Pasha out this, in my opinion, only a lot more subtle.

Yes. So I'd have preferred a quote along the lines of "too expensive for this club". That is very different to "too good".

Christ it's really not that deep, Eustace may look back and think he could have possibly re worded it better , but I think we all get what he means as a whole.

We need 4 at least now Baker has gone.

But its understandable why people dont relax, weve seen this all before. Desperate for funding to improve the squad off the back of sales and owners who wont allow it. Manager regularly shows frustration in the media, doesnt get what he wants and a positive start fizzles out.

Spot on.

It is definitely, laying the gauntlet down, to them two, but what now of we sign no one of consequence this window, which is likely to happen?

Yeah, it's not a great choice of words on his part.

Both of those players are likely to be in the championship by the end of the window, so not sure how either are too good for us.

Likely to be out of our reach financially but maybe he's not allowed to mention that due to the circa £40m influx of cash we've had.

You think those players are "too good" for us?

A Coventry reserve, an aging ugility man frozen out by his club and an injured League 1 player.

Eustace is clearly getting pissed off.

Not my point, see my next post.

Batth as a reserve at Norwich last season or Gestede at Cardiff.

Has Eustace told you he is getting pissed off. Clearly Eustace wants signings in early but its not happened

In what world would poku and kitching be too good for rovers or even close to it? Give your head a wobble

That's wasnt my point, its think those 3 players would improved us as a squad. Just need a striker now

That wasn’t the context of the conversation we were discussing the working ‘too good’ and you replied that poku and kitching ‘would be’

so your response was incorrect

as for Eustace - if he isn’t pissed off then he isn’t a good manager

Well if the names linked so far are "too good" for us it might be Eustace tipping us off that that the Club aren't matching his ambition.

We don't know what tone the comment was said in either. I suppose he could have said it in a sarcastic manner.

We won't know until the end of the window I guess, but early signs are very unencouraging both in terms of actual activity and names linked. The only hope is that the Club have been keeping their cards close to their chest and they surprise us with some great signings that haven't been mentioned anywhere so far.

I think your point about it being sarcastic, or playful is likely. Either way, we can’t be getting our knickers in a twist about it without the full context (Not saying you are btw).

I think it’s still pretty early in the window. The names linked aren’t overly exciting, but the first ones out of the hat are rarely the ones you get anyway.

We play Portsmouth in 5 days and Oxford in 8 days

we’re down Travis / picks / Ohashi / baker

Pretty early? Not so sure about that

I understand that thanks but I think you are reading far too much into Eustace's comments. I think those 3 players would improve us

The same posters won't be saying the same if we loose both games or pick up minimal points and slide down to 10th...Teams breathing down our necks are investing...What are we doing?

Mate, from as close to the horses mouth as you get, I know JE offered his resignation in the summer as we meandered through the transfer window refusing to spend the money he had been promised on joining the club. In fairness, Rovers turned it round with some good signings and backed him, with the Cantwell signing the ‘Cherry on the top’.

JE doesn’t sound petulant or erratic, but he is apparently VERY direct and clear in what he wants. I think he’s a realist, and doesn’t expect us to spend millions, but IF we have a terrible window this January, then I don’t doubt that he will do his job well until the end of the season and be gone in the summer.

He won’t be short of offers.

Sorry just not having this at all. 6months in and he offered to resign? Calling massive BS on this one

Honestly, would it really be that surprising?

JDT was only a year in before he was done.

Lambert also.

Nothing ever changes with these cunts.

Has Eustace said that? Very disappointing if so. He shouldn't be saying that even if we we were being tentatively linked with some genuine superstars on loan etc.

I'd go the other way, I'm not excited by anyone we've been linked to yet.

Maybe he is trying to lower fans expectations , and he can then be pleased if we get one of them.
