So you wouldn't take Shelvey at Rovers right now?

I didn’t say that but for what it’s worth he wouldn’t be a top priority for me/us at present

but to say he will rip the league up I’m not sure what your basing that on? He’s 33 next month has played limited football this last 6 months which was in turkey as he couldn’t hack it at forest

We need players that can hit the ground running and we needed them yesterday, so I'm baffled that we don't have any clear targets that have already joined. But business as usual eh?

Do you have the same view on Kent then?

(FWIW I'd take Shelvey but wouldn't touch Kent for the reasons you mention)

I do yes Iv been very clear on it in my opinion we need players that help us now. It’s too good a position AGAIN to waste the window on players that might need a month or so to get up to speed

unless their an obvious big name

Shelvey is definitely a big name.  He was a key player for Newcastle a few years ago and an England International

On that logic, John Fleck was a key player for Sheff Utd at about the same time

A few years ago

whats he done since?

who drops out Travis/tronstad/cantwell?

he’s not a priority for us - could be a decent signing for them lot but saying will tear up the league etc to me is a massive exaggeration

danny murphy was an England international too

Think weve messed up Dilan Markanday... think its a player there and he should had gone out on loan in his second season....if he does well with his potential loan move to Leyton O we can always trigger a one year option and then giving him a new contract or sell him in august.

1) Gallagher injured again…shock!

2) Baker wanted to go back to Stoke.

Hard to know really with baker robins isn’t going to say ‘he didn’t want to come back but I needed him’ prob to get the fans back on side with him as a lot didn’t like him

If Baker is on £15K - £20K per week, he is much more likely to get a new contract on that sort of money at Stoke than he is at Rovers.

If he had turned Stokes request to recall him down, If Baker had been less than enthusiastic about returning to Stoke, so they decided not to recall him, then there is every possibility that in a few weeks, he would be back to sitting on Rovers bench for the rest of the season once Travis returns and then is looking for a new employer once out of contract in the summer

Saw Shelvey arrive for transfer talks(Forest?). Ripped jeans, hoodie, walking like he couldn't be arsed.

Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole personally.

Not sure that's an option, if the club says you're coming back, then you're coming back!

Shelvey would be lightyears better than anything we have In midfield

I am not sure I would swap Travis or Tronstad for him. Would swap Cantwell based on what I have seen so far which is a shame as so much was expected from Todd when he signed.

Edit - what I mean obviously Shelvey on form was a great player, but so many of these swan songs just don't really work out. Murphy or Etuhu at us for example. Happens all the time across the Championship. Travis and Tronstad have not only proven themselves in this league, they are also getting better and better both having brilliant seasons this year. That is better than taking a player from a higher division who may not be motivated, fit, in the right headspace etc...
