January Transfer window

Recommended Posts

I am going to try not to believe this one. It is better for my health!! 33 year-old, injury-affected career, free transfer to Norwich 18 months ago and played fewer than 10 games before released on a free transfer to Plymouth and a regular in a very poor team this season. And some have been talking down the loss of Lewis Baker. With our owners, it is always who replaces one of our outgoing players that matters. And it is pretty much always a downgrade. We've GOT to be looking at better than this. Right...?!

Whatever name gets mentioned its either a lack of ambition, lack of financial committment, too old, not good enough, unwanted elsewhere, too young, too thin, wrong position, not fit enough, not fast enough, their numbers are crap, too flashy, too soft, bad attitude, alcoholic, blah blah blah.

These are pro-footballers for a reason. Yet few have the ability to identify the reasons why.

I can tell you why he did have the ability and physical fitness to be a Championship level footballer. Doesn't mean he can do it his entire career though and i'd argue, he's not champ quality anymore.

All I’ll say is, if Adam Forshaw is the answer to the midfield cover question, then I fuckin hope we’re doing it to keep a boat load of cash spare for a striker and winger!

Dearie me! 🙈🤣

Perfect description of the inhabitants of the pool we appear to be fishing in.

This is literally waggot ringing around all clubs asking if they want to anyone flogging...This will have been the cheapest option.

IF this is to help with a marquee permanent signing in attack then I'm all for it but we know dam well it frickin won't be.

Plymouth fans are in dreamland he's gone lol

I don't think people were very enthusiastic at the time.

You could see him deteriorating almost before your eyes towards the latter end of his first spell.

Should never have been given a second deal.

But was there outrage, as the poster suggested for players of this age? No. And some people were enthusiastic due to his CV. I wasn't one of them and doubted the signing due to his age, but for one season he was a solid freebie. Agree the second deal was unwise, especially since, if memory serves, it wasn't signed until he had missed preseason. I think it was after the transfer deadline even?

So one of forshaw, Buckley or JRC starting CM then 🤮🤮 fans ambition top 6, clubs ambition is survival. Zzzzzzzzzz

JRC for me, if we can get him driving forward like that spell under JDT we're onto a winner. Just need to make sure tronstad isn't too exposed.

Unfortunately the same thing happened with JDT, start the season pretty well, build up hope in the fan base, pushing into the top 6.....Then Venkys and Waggot do everything they possibly can to screw us over in January and we're left with a depleted squad, which after a few injuries means we're relying on Garrett, Markanday and Vale (who started the majority of games during the Jan 2023 window)!

The depth of the squad is horrific, Pickering, Travis, Ohashi, Carter, Wharton are injured and we're scrambling away trying to pick an 11 that can be remotely competitive.

An absolute disgrace of a signing.

Borrowing players that Plymouth dont want and that their fans are laughing at us for taking.

Thank you Venkys.

I thought you didn't really trust Nixon and certainly don't take his stories as gospel?

Better hope tronstad doesn’t get injured, have the worst CM in the league easily

Forshaw was a good player. Not seen him play for ages but might be a shrewd acquisition, in the same way Batth has been.

I would assume Forshaw (if it happens) would be cover for Tronstad in the sitting midfield role rather than the Travis box to box role, which may work as a sticking plaster.  Not something that excites me in the slightest though.
