but feels like another Fleck/Basturk to me.

In five years time, we’ll forget he even played for the club.

It's nearly 15 years since Basturk, and you remember him...

Good signing. Rewriting as someone deleted my last post for some reason 🤔

Replaces Baker straight away & adds experience and he’s combative which is what we need. He’s only cover and won’t start when Trav is back. So I’m not sure what people expect?

He literally ran the game last season at Ewood. All be it only against Buckley & Ayari but it wasn’t that long ago so he can’t be “past it” as some have described.

Hopefully better to come but it’s a start.

Ideally we’d bring in player to compete with Trav and Trondstad.  Competition for positions is what pushes players. Bringing in squad fillers does nothing to improve the club. I’d rather gives kids the experience since were clearly not making moves for a run at promotion

if this forshaw rumour is true then it`s the damning evidence that venkys/swag and the other ***** are using the january window to stop us threatening the top six, they are doing it again, nothing against forshaw, who was a useful player a couple of seasons ago but it`s not the progressive signing a club wanting to get in the play offs needs and i very much doubt a centre forward will appear

Usual hysteria on here when a name mentioned, 2 weeks ago we weren’t signing a midfielder but because Baker was recalled we’ve had to get similar as cover till Travis back which hopefully isn’t too far off.. He will then slot in as an experienced squad player, as was Baker..

The main point is getting a striker, left winger( with pace) and left back, hopefully decent players who can go straight in the team.

Obviously we would like to get them in as soon as possible as, but this is Rovers and the main thing is to sign them this window.

As every transfer window I’ll make up my mind when the window closes, fingers crossed….

do you not think it`s obvious that whoever is in our recruitment team are  phoning round every club in the football league asking if there are any players that are surplus to requirements, greg cunningham the ancient left back will probably land on monday along with patrick bauer

they are not giving eustace any money at all

Ah yes.

You're the chap. Usual script "Everything going to plan, nothing to worry about, judge it at the end of the window". Blah blah.

Do you not think it's telling that we've found a cheap Baker replacement inside a day or so whereas the priority positions we've known about for months remain unfilled? And will probably remain so, at least with any quality.

Could do with unleaded now to tell us what's really going on.

Problem with judging at the end of the window is we've typically found ways to renege on agreements after the window has shut over the last few years.

I'm amazed anyone is willing to consider us as a customer in January.

It’s only an hysterical overreaction if there is another midfielder coming in.
We’re not talking 4th or 5th choice squad player here. Whoever comes in will be 3rd choice midfielder (after Trav and Tron). That person has to be decent enough that if god forbid either of those gets another injury and misses a significant number of games that they can be a competent regular first teamer. Baker, whilst a downgrade, looked ok. Stoke fans said he’d be ok. Whereas Plymouth fans are pissing their sides here.

Please can we stop with this ‘usual hysteria’ kind of talk, please.

Similarly, please can we not call people happy clappers either, ta.

Any more posts contravening the above will be hidden.

Ta.

Baker leaves, so we need an experienced replacement. What do you know? Here comes Adam Forshaw. Former Boro. Wake up, folks (those that are still sleeping). Nothing has changed.

Pasha knows eff all about players. He couldn't tell you who is and who isn't a good player in a month of Sundays.

There are people that will happily advise him though.

Get the lot of these pricks out. Promotion has never been on the agenda here.

Forshaw? F")£ off.

Why are we signing players "just for cover" when we've raked in £40m in transfer fees in the last 18months?

Where is the squad building or the "Brentford model" we were led to believe was happening here?

Forshaw - 33

Batth- 34

Weimann - 33

McFadzean- 38

Some serious long term planning going on with half of our signings.

Correct. At least when Mowbray and Broughton were running things they could maintain a facade of long term planning and vision, even though we knew deep down the owners wouldn't actually ever allow that to come to any sort of fruition at least it was reassuring for a while thinking that the powers that be had some sort of plan and aim.

Now it seems they've dropped all pretences.

Totally failed / given up on any sort of contract extensions for senior players.

Zero reinvestment of funds even when massive sales take place.

Where does it end? They want the club to fund itself yet refuse to allow it to obtain new assets to grow in value by spending in the transfer market. They can't even ensure that the assets we do have are tied down long term to protect value in them.

Basically a modern day version of Oyston's Blackpool.

All these players contracts run out in the summer so can be released.

Trouble with judging at the end of the window Is that's another 3 or 4 games wasted in January.  More points lost. The club should have had deals in place at the beginning of the window knowing the squad is thin as it is

When was the last time your mind decided we had a positive window? And now that will answer why it’s the ‘usual hysteria’ on here because it was a fucking generation ago

Eyal Berkovic was an superb signing

He was. He was also in the prime of his career and went on to be City’s player of the year in the Premier League the following year.
