January Transfer window

Absolutely, Brentford were not doing this.

Matthew Bentham wouldn’t have a Venky, Waggot or Pasha within a mile of his ownership and club.

It’s a complete joke that the clowns at our place even think they could replicate the work that savvy and passionate owners like Bentham and Bloom have.

Very weird bunch on the LT site. There was actually someone else arguing on there this morning that we were a "development" Club and they didn't want us spending any money in the transfer window in case it put the Club at risk.

No real fan would say that. Either not a Rovers supporter or a Club plant.

Gestede has openly stated his pride at us being a "development club".

Waggott has openly said in interviews with Andy Bayes/Neil Yardley that he doesn't want to "put the club at risk" by trying to spend big.

That LT poster is no Blackburn Rovers fan.

When was the last time your mind decided we had a positive window? And now that will answer why it’s the ‘usual hysteria’ on here because it was a fucking generation ago

Probably Harvey Elliot’s window and before that my biggest surprise was spending that much on Brereton although even that was have we or haven’t we

Forshaw is a squad player at best and replacing Baker cos when Travis is back fit, it will be him and Tronstad in centre midfield first choice. Also it appears from Nicko's comments on his own Patreon site, Eustace is the one behind the signing. Also 2 weeks ago we weren't looking for a centre midfield signing. Our focus has to be now and present not looking for the next 2 or 3 years in terms of signings. We have a good chance of the playoffs if we make the right signings in this window.

because the first signing (if any may I add) should have been a striker and or winger

bringing in either of those position signings were never going to happen early in the window. They never do. I don't see many strikers out there who we can sign on loan making much of impact and I would like us to buy a quality striker for £3m plus but I don't see that happening either.

squad fillers can wait

I don't agree squad fillers can wait cos you sign players when they come available and when the deal can be done by both parties.

Eustace picked him. That would be speculation, but even if he has, he wouldnt if he had a reasonable budget. Not expecting a £5m midfielder, but just a decent one.

So you know for sure he wouldn't pick Forshaw over others regardless of the budget?

what a decent one to be back up player to Travis and Tronstad?

I think 2 of the above, would have been sold if they were all fit...

Also, I think Cantwell could be sold..

It's not hysterical it's just a question of whether it is deliberate or just negligent.

Third time in four years under three different managers where they've managed against the odds to drag us into the promotion conversation by the mid-way stage and unless something very unexpected happens in the next 3 weeks it seems they've ignored all their past failings and continued with the same plan.

It appears  to me that all the "thirty somethings" ( Fadz, Batth, Weimann, ) have  been Eustaces appointments as he was always commenting on the experience and know how they bring.

He seems particularly big on the influence they have around the dressing room whether in the team or not. Having said that although Fadz hasn't played this season , both Batth and Weimann have made big contributions to the team this season, probably more than anyone expected.

If Eustace thinks Forshaw can do a similar job for a few months then great. I'm sure there will be 3 more through the door before the end of the window

All these players contracts run out in the summer so can be released.

That just backs up my point even further? 🤷‍♂️

How can we build a squad if we just reinvest the largest financial windfall we've had in our history in players like Batth, Fadz, Forshaw and Weimann?

We're literally throwing money away on incredibly short term signings. Once they all leave in the summer, they will all need replacing in the squad.

The cycle repeats.

Why haven't we invested some of this money in players who are younger, signed on longer term contracts, with room to improve?

They can then be sold on in a few years for good profit and that money goes back into the squad and a much, much better cycle is formed that we can continue with for the benefit of Blackburn Rovers football club.

Straight question, do you think signing Forshaw is a good idea and do you think it strengthens our chances of a top 6 finish?

You seem to think that if Eustace endorses it, it must right. I dont know for sure if he would choose someone better if he had more money, just as we will never know if Eustace pushed for Forshaw, if it happens. If he would have gone for Forshaw anyway, I would have criticised Eustace. As it is, I just feel sorry for him. Wanting to sustain a play off push and not being given the tools to do it.

And yes, a decent back up to Travis and Tronstad. Are we not allowed to sign anything other than a past it warm body to boost the squad?

As far as I see it. In midfield, we had 2 very good Championship midfielders, then a solid back up in Baker. Then Buckley who isnt good enough. 2 very good options, a good backup.

Now we have replaced that good back up with someone not capable of being a back up at the worst team in the league, whose legs have gone. And one of our main 2 midfielders is injured.

Why is it hard? What do the recruitment team do outside of the window surely logic would suggest

budget is x amount

we need a striker and winger

from October to now 3 months they should have been targeting certain players to fit the bill for the budget - that’s enough time to allow for change for example poku getting injured so move on or godo back in Fulham plans due to reiss nelson injury - so there should be back ups

our recruitment stinks of starting on 1st Jan and hoping for the best

Your post is a tad contradictory you don’t think there’s a good loan forward and you don’t think we will buy one so where does that leave us?

I know it isn’t football manager but surely it’s a lot easier than rovers make it

Why are people moaning about forshaw he's coming in as experiance a back up player to fill in when needed plus if we keep bucko and garrett I'd say we're stronger than before

We're fed up of signing more and more back-up players. Some of them are backing up players who should only be back-up players in the first place!

What we need is genuine , ready-made starters.

Bu they cost money.....

The arguments for is signing seems to be that hes experienced and he wont play much. And of course, to stop moaning.

Whoever we sign in midfielder does need to be good. We have lost Baker so have 2 good midfielders, one who is out injured. We know Buckley isnt up to it so whoever comes in needs to step in and help us in a supposed top 6 push.

Getting someone in to plug gaps behind Travis and Sonny is great and all, but as we've seen in the last few weeks if they're not at the same level we drop off in form.

An ambitious team would look for  quality and make Trav have to force his way back. But, we are not an ambitious team so we will continue scraping the barrel for whoever will play for as little as possible.
