Can someone tell me with any authority why 33 means you’re past it? Wiemann is 33 but made some key contributions this season and his experience is invaluable. The Dingles have just signed Ashley Barnes who is 35. 

No-one is saying Forshaw is in his prime, or Sanderson is coming in as the next Ryan Nelsen, but there are different reasons for signing a player and Eustace clearly values experience. It is essential in this league.

Some people need to be realistic. We all know how our owners operate and they do not shell out cash in January (or at all 😂)  Lose the anger against them and set your expectations at the level we are at.

Forshaw isn’t a horrific signing for cover with Trav being injured, we desperately need a striker who actually scores a goal every now and again mind.

With Sunderland doing ambitious things in the midfield , I would have thought an enquiry for Alan Browne might have been a bit more useful than Forshaw btw

not to bothered about these two signings gives us depth  in areas as long as the attacking areas are of more quality then these could be shrewd cover signings.

the problem with forshaw is he`s past it,his legs have gone and he`s permanently injured,it does`nt matter if a player is 35,if he`s still got his legs and injury free then it`s no problem,gordon cowans was in his middle thirties when he signed for us,but what a great signing,on the other hand,djorkaeff had nothing left when hughes signed him,it`s plain that forshaw is finished as a player,it`s a stupid signing,he won`t cover anybody because he wont be fit to play

I don't recall saying Forshaw was a good signing. I agree with everything you've just said.

Spot on. The expectation levels have been lowered so much by the current regime that some think Sanderson and Forshaw are OK signings. 

Constant downgrading of the squad and these are two more examples of that. 

The miracles Eustace is performing is papering over the cracks of a really poor squad that has no assets left and we've sold our best players and didn't re-invest a penny.

disagree two signings for half a season that give us cover these are decent additions as long as it allows us to concentrate whatever ( if any) budget we have at the top end of the pitch.

One thing I will say in defense of the Forshaw signing, lots of clubs will bring in players like him to boost the numbers, it’s about who else we bring in.

Look at Ashley Barnes at Burnley; similar kind of scenario but they will back the manager with other signings

This. It's all about who else we sign, we are good defensively and in midfield, we just lack a bit of depth. Attacking, we don't have enough goal threat. Batth was a similar signing to Forshaw, recently left Norwich, same age, fans said legs had gone. Not saying this as some sort of Maggot apologist, just trying to look at it for what it is. If this is all we have at the end of the window then it will be one of the worst. Personally I'd like to see them go for one permanent attacking player and a young prem loan.

This makes the Forshaw signing make a lot more sense, another experienced head to "warm up" during the match and coach the younger heads

Let’s face it Forshaw is a terrible signing doesn’t matter that the rationale is he is cheap cover … Buckley and JRC are even cheaper cover and trust me , if he is not good enough to play in a shit Plymouth team he is not a better option than Buckley and  JRC it’s just a waste of the precious little money we have

Why isn't Sanderson a good signing of a 4th choice centre back?

He has been brought in as cover.Do Hyam or Batth need to be out of the team?Is Carter going to be back in February?

Nobody is saying he is going to fire us to promotion but as another option at the back then I don't see the problem?

We need first team players in up front and I'm sorry but not many if any non parachute payment clubs have 4 top class centre backs in their squads. What where you expecting us to spend? who to bring in as potentially 4th choice and the overall budget we likely have.

Forshaw I don't mind, but if he's here to be backup we have to rely on him being fit - that's a problem when over half the time he isn't! Downgrade from Baker imo, but Baker looked like his legs had gone (too).

Can only see Kitching happening if he's cheap, and we need LB cover. I doubt it will happen now.
